Hello, my guys are absolute slobs when it comes to their hay. I found a solution from Amazon which is a wood litterbox container from a brand called petsfit. I figured this would contain the mess a bit. In the product description it says it’s made from “fir” I reached out to the seller and asked them to be more specific and the answer I recieved is that it was made from “spruce”.

I’m getting so much conflicting info online,  some say spruce is safe if dried, others say it’s toxic even if dried. Some even going as far to say pine isnt safe for rabbits, which Im pretty sure pine is used for small pet select items and those popular ikea beds. I digress, but its a bit of a mess. I just need a straight answer:

Is a small spruce house safe to put my rabbits litter box in?

Kiln dried pine us safe. Spruce is listed as potentially toxic, but it isn’t clear if that is because it contains something pine does not… or if it simply needs to be kiln dried first like pine does. I’m leaning toward it simply needs to be kiln dried first.
