Hello sorry to join and ask for some help on the same day but I would really love some input from people more informed than me .

I have one Bun Male (Dutch), around 11 months old. rescued from a pet shop altered 3 months ago. Female 18 months ( mini lop x Dutch) that we were told was not altered so had her done last week to be informed she was already done! very frustrated with owners who gave her to the rescue for miss information.

They have been together for 2 months with little to no issues, our male gets a bit keen when mounting and holds fur and pulls when mounting only not fighting, never witnessed a fight with these two. 99% of the time the are in love and relaxed.

Is this a common issue, fur pulling when mounting? I understand rabbits hold on but not not seen anything about pulling.

When this last happened we separated them for a few hours and when they went back they were fine, until today. With the females un required op im not willing to let this happen given her post op state. I have dropped them into their own cages next to each other. Planning to give them a full 24 hours apart and try again.

Has anyone seen this, or got any thing they would suggest to reduce the pulling

my male rabbit pulls fur from my other male rabbit while mounting as well (both are neutered and very close to bonded if they aren’t already), I think it’s just there so they can hold on and then the fur comes loose and gets pulled out. I haven’t noticed any bite marks or any wounds from this happening they just lose a little fur.

I don’t think it’s anything to cause concern but maybe someone more experienced than me will answer

I wouldn’t worry about it as long as he doesn’t seem to be hurting her or causing her a lot of stress. The humping will subside or at least, be reduced, once they are more established in their bond.
