There’s fur in Bambi’s poop, and I’ve been noticing it for the past few days. Should I bring him in? He’s eating and pooping normally, with the same level of happy binkying activity. Could this just be from grooming? He was shedding recently…..hm. I don’t know. What does everyone else think? I feed him unlimited hay, a cup of pellets a day (he’s 5 months old, so I’m beginning to gradually cut down and switch from unlimited alfalfa pellets to limited timothy based pellets) along with about a handful of fresh greens daily.

Better out than in… it’s probably from him bathign while shedding, and the hay in his diet helps get it through his system. i wouldn’t get too worried unless he stops going poop.

What Monkeybun said – this means it’s passing through his system. Keep feeding him the hay that will help the fur continue to pass through.

Ah have you had the infamous “Pearl necklace” ? Strung together poopies that look like a pearl necklace? That’s very common when shedding. Like the others said it’s pretty normal.

Some precautions are to make sure they are eating their hay, and you can add papaya tablets (or papaya!), and pineapple to help break it down.

Okay. Thanks. I just wanted to check. He’s a little guy still, and I want to watch out for him.

It sounds like you are getting right into the bunny mom routine of checking bunny poops Its a very good idea to keep an eye on their poops because one of the first signs of sickness is a change in their poops. When my bunnies start getting a lot of fur in their poop I try to make sure to brush them more often. Its usually when they are shedding, so I try to brush them once a day until they are done shedding.
