Looking for recommendations for clippers, in particular, smaller sized ones as I find normal ones unwieldy. Bun in need is a lionhead with thick long fur.

After a year of trimming my little monster’s fur (1x/month), I’d like to try exploring clippers. Despite trying to sharpen the grooming shears, which did work very well for a while, it seems it’s just getting too dull and taking forever.

Hi Mia! I would recommend the kind that are for “manscaping”. They are small, quiet, and easy to manage. I would use my husband’s old clippers. I think they were Wahl. The only downside is they aren’t meant for thick hair. Definitely only for trimming wispy bunny fur.

Unfortunately, the little monster has thick fur, especially around his butt https://imgur.com/a/mooncake-W6ojMWV

I just adopted a relative of his but in her “original form” pictures, I think I may be able to get away with not trimming her but right now, well, the shelter trimmed her and she looks like a Netherland Dwarf instead of a Lionhead 😆 .

I have also had some luck with “manscaping” clippers. I have one from Meridian that worked really well for my old bunny, Churro. He was a Fuzzy Lop and his fur tangled if you looked at wrong lol.

I found the clippers on Amazon. I have also had some luck with a small pair of Wahl clippers that was made for grooming small dogs. The small size is great for buns, but its a tad louder than the Meridian one.

Buns are bonding right now so with the slight roughhousing, everyday he gets new mats 😆

Between my child sized hands and bun being <2.5 lbs, I was hoping for something smaller and lighter. Was looking at the mini version of that clipper https://www.amazon.com/Wahl-Professional-Animal-MiniArco-8787-450A/dp/B000634JDU/ but then realized, the description says it’s for light trimming only.

Yeah, the small clippers like the manscaping ones are great because they are easy to use and are lightweight. But the downside is they aren’t as powerful for cutting.
