Wally has some loud gurgling this morning and I’m trying to decide if I should get him to the vet or just monitor. We opened a new box of hay Saturday and I think that might be causing a little gas. Our last box was kind of weird and more lightweight/grassy than I’m used to, whereas this box is more what I’m used to timothy hay looking and feeling like. Should I try to encourage him to hop and move to see if it wiggles the gas out? I’ve never had a bunny with tummy noises this loud before so it’s a bit concerning!

I think monitoring and getting him to move around is a fine first step.

Thank you! All of a sudden he started thumping for no apparent reason and I didn’t have any baby simethicone on hand so I got him some and he ate it on a thin slice of banana. I’m sure banana isn’t the best for him is he has a tummy ache but he’s hard to handle so I had to do what I could. Grrr fragile bunnies…

Yeah I agree that encouraging movement, more hay, and a tummy rub would be my go-to. If he isn’t turning down food I wouldn’t rush to the vet just yet.  If you offer a piece of hay does he take it from you and eat it?

So after I went to the store and gave him the simethicone he was grumpy for about 20 minutes or half an hour then he came out of his hidey corner and went to his box and ate hay. Seriously it sounded like he had a people tummy this morning. I’ve never heard a bunny tummy do that before!

So I think that did the trick! I KNOW to have baby simethicone on hand but I didn’t. My bad. Don’t be me people, have your stuff ready.
