        Anybody elses’ bunny bomb proof?
My almost 4 month old flemish giant Jo-Jo doesn’t seem to let anything bother her, to the point where I worry she doesn’t have the sense to get out of dangers’ way! If you walk thru the room and she is flopped in the middle, you must walk around her… Instead of hiding from my rambunctious 23 mo old twin neice & nephew when they visit, she follows them hoping they ‘ll drop a crumb. Today my 4 yr old former foster son was visiting and was tossing a large stuffed animal in the air and it flew across the room and landed right on her back out of the clear blue sky and she didn’t blink – just sat there with a stuffed monkey on her head til I went over and took it off! Don’t get me wrong – I love that she ‘s so comfy in our home, but she acts more like a puppy than a rabbit. Is that normal or are her prey reflexes under developed? She walks hops right in front of you as you walk – I worry she ‘ll get stepped on cuz she just won ‘t get out of the way! My husband says it’s like living with a kangaroo! Funny bunny.

My bunny has only been with us for about a week.
He is a year old, neutered, Netherland dwarf, and he is a rescue bunny, with a rough start to life.

That said, he is fairly social and comfy in the house, but definitely not ‘bomb proof’
I had a Holland lop 7 years ago (he was my first rabbit), and he on the other hand was exactly like your rabbit. He would beg to be let out of his cage and would run around with my dog (playing na-na-boo-boo, you can’t catch me).

It’s nice to hear he is so comfortable in your home! Definitely keep a watch out for his safety though! =)

Does he have a lot of hiding boxes or cat tunnels? Those might be fun for him and keep him more out of the way! =)

Hi LoveMyMomo! Glad to hear Jo is not the only one! We JUST, as in just this minute, tried nail trimming for the first time – I fed her raisins while hubby clipped her. She wasn’t thrilled, but as long as the raisins kept coming, she held relatively still! So THAT’s a help! (Then she got down and flopped, so I’m guessing she was not traumatized!)

Glad to meet you! Thanks again for your reply!

Mine aren’t bomb proof, but Powder has no respect for human feet. He’ll run right under your foot when walking and he likes to lie across doorways so you HAVE to step over him if you want to leave (I call him the guard bunny). I was even moving the bird cage the other day (it’s a flight cage on wheels) and he wouldn’t get out of the doorway for it, I had to push him to get him to stand up.

My bun is kind of in between. She’s pretty jumpy about sudden noises or things that are unfamiliar but I’ve accidentally kicked her/almost stepped on her more times than I can count. She has zero sense of self preservation when she thinks there is a chance I will come back with treats… it’s worst in the morning when I’m trying to come down the stairs while still half asleep and she insists on coming up and waiting at the top step…

Hi Stickerbunny & Bpash! The under-the-feet thing is the worst! I am deathly afraid I’ll step on her back! Or that I’ll accidentally kick her and she’ll think I did it on purpose! Crazy wabbits!
