In another thread, we were talking about how to save our $$ during this time, and one of our ways to save with entertainment  is to have youtube parties once a month.  Throughout the month our friends collect the links of their favorites videos for the YouTube get-together.  This has just been a recent thing we started but it has been blast!    We all bring grub, drinks and links!    Cheap and FUN!    So I wanted to share one of my favorite most recent videos.  (I’m sure many of you have seen it, but this one is funny every time i see it).

EDITED NOTE: So just a reminder: When collecting your favorite videos to post, some may be appropriate for a You-tube party, but at at least for posting here, keep it PG13 and be sensitive to all of our fellow animal lovers.

 This video is of a kid who went to the dentist to have stitches, and afterwards, he was obviously still floating from the laughing gas.

Note: you can minimuze  the crazy youtube ad bar by just clicking on the x on the bar.

 NOTE:  You can imbed videos just by copying the “embed code” that is to the right of the YouTube video on YouTube.  Paste it to the body of the edit window when you are posting.  It will still be in HTML code, but it should then be fine when you post it.  If that doesn’t work, then you may have to click on the “Source”  option first (at top left hand section of the edit window tool bar) and then post the code.  OTHERWISE, just post the link to the youtube video.

Aww man, I do not like the terrified frog ones

Frogs have it pretty bad as far as creatures that get messed with goes.

Can’t we keep the videos to funny, cute, or interesting thigns that don’t have to do with harming or harrassing animals.

crayon – We must have posted at the same exact time because I just wrote about that too, but it didn’t take because of us posting too close together! (that will be fixed on our next update)

But I hear ya crayon.   I figured I was the only one as I know I can be really sensitive to that type of thing. So I figured it was just me and my goofyness. But I posted that I feel sorry for animals that may be in distress like the seal (though the whale teaching their young is amazing) and the frog even if the end result is that they are safe. I just hate seeing animals in distress even prior to the safe and happy ending..

I only saw the screaming frog one since it appears the other one has been deleted and I agree – I don’t think that’s funny at all. I know that cat doesn’t know better but we sure do.

Okay, so after getting several notices about the “screaming” frog and the condom/safe videos, they have been deleted. And for the other frog and seal videos- I put posted a warning.

Thanks BinkyBunny for editing the ‘disturbing to some’ videos.
I hate to keep talking about these videos but I’m not sure why the pacman frog one is still there since it is just as bad as the screaming frog one.
I know if I posted a vid of a terrified bunny locked in a cage that was being prodded into making ‘funny’ noises it would not
be appreciated. I have pet frogs and I hate to see one in distress.

Awe, So sorry crayon!  It seems that it is the common complaint even off the board. I was being cautious to make sure it’ was not just me being overly-sensitive, but since this is something that is making others feel sad too, then it’s just best to keep this thread light and delete the seal and other frog video.   You’ll have to start another thread in the lounge and tell us about your frogs! I’d love to see photos of them, and hear more about them.

I’m sure we all ‘trance’ our rabbits – that’s a defense mechanism.

I’m really not super impressed MY favourite videos got deleted. This is all personal opinion.

Lion Lop, I hoped you wouldn’t take it too personally. It is just that there are a lot of people out there that are EXTREMELY empethetic towards aninmals and even to the point of giving animals human feelings. So with a light hearted thread like this one is, it is just not coohesive to post videos of animals that are in distress even if the animal is not physically harmed in the end. I know that everyone has a different sense of humor and you think those frogs were funny, but to me I don’t think it is. It goes back to when I was a little kid and other children would find a frog and mess with it or torture it in various ways and have a right good time doing it. But that is just not good times for me.

Just please don’t be upset that your videos are deleted. It may be your personal opinion but it just wasn’t meant to be. The forum leaders have a right to delete any material that is not fit from any thread. And with all the complaints recieved, they did the right thing.

Then it shouldn’t be ‘post YOUR funniest youtube videos’ …. because this is completely censoring people’s thoughts. And we are all entitled to our opinions, and as such, we are entitled to post our funniest videos. If you don’t like it after the opening seconds, don’t watch it.

If I’m watching animal slaughter videos to further educate myself, I have the choice of clicking pause or exit. I don’t, because I refuse to live in a world of censorship.

It exists. Therefore we should all be aware and not stick our heads in the sand.

By posting “DELETED” in my thread it makes it look like I posted porn or something equally perverse, but at the same time blatantly saying, oh – my funny videos are not acceptable…even though it says POST YOUR FUNNY VIDEOS.

Enough censorship.

That clicker training video is awesome!  I’ve seen a video like the ending before, where the rabbit is hopping over the hurdles like that.  I want to try to clicker train one of these days when I get the patience haha!

LL – I do understand your feelings about the words “deleted” being in your post: The “deleted” is now deleted out of your post.

As far as the rest of it; We are entitled to our opinions and we are entitled to think a video is funny when someone else may not. However, there are many of even my OWN that I thought were funny but inappropriate for this forum so they were not posted. (especially since it is video and people have to watch first to assess)   So bottom line, the decision was made that  this may not be the appropriate placement for some of your videos.
If you have any further complaint about this, you can email me directly, but at this point, let’s move on and keep it light.

So, apparently people are a little nervous about watching this video, so here is a description of what happens by BinkyBunny:

So anywya this is what happens in the video:
The snake approaches the hamster who is completely unbothered, washing himself, and this is where you think…uh oh, but the snake just turns and leaves, then the hamster seeks out the snake, gets on him and finds a compfy spot to hang out. They hang out. Then it cuts to the zookeeper holding the snake and hamster and showing surprised visitors. Then it cuts back to the hamster eating and then seeking out the snake, and digs a bit at him, the snake moves a bit to give the hamster what he wants. ?? That it.

So, yeah, nothing much happens, I just thought it was interesting that the hamster and the snake coexisted like this.

I was also worried thinking the snake one was some cruel joke, but it’s fine – whew!  (I even went to the original youtube page to get more info before, so apparently this is a snake in the zoo who normally gets fed frozen food. (the hamster thing – just a fluke – you’ll have to read more about by clicking on the video twice to get to the source if you want to really know the details)
