Have you noticed that when you search for something on the internet,  or use links to other sites,  a large percentage of the time the intended page or website no longer exists?   Why don’t the invalid pages get removed?   It wastes so much time to go down those dead ends.

Also,   I did physician referral searches and called up the doctors offices.   Supposedly they fill out the internet site form, then why is their specialty,  or insurance accepted, or other info wrong?

I even found a resource for a doctor listed at a clinic that was closed at least 15 years ago.

When the cable company technician put in the internet service for me,  he said to watch out,  “there’s a lot of evil stuff on the internet.”   His words.

Some junk on the internet is just wrong information.  Some are dead ends to irritate and annoy.  There’s also outright malice.

I got “flamed” on one message board from the very first (innocuous) messsage I posted.   Some people just like to attack.   I left that message board that instant.

Sometimes I get eyestrain or headache and feel like I wasted a lot of time getting nothing of value for all my effort on the internet.   Is it just me?

This is why I have BB on my toolbar and come here often.   Its like a vacation from the internet frustrations,  and computer frustrations.

PS  Frowny faces throughout this post

Hmm. What did you post on the message board that the person flamed you over?

And yes, old sites still up with no new info get annoying. Sometimes I find a great site, look through it a little, and then realize it was last updated or changed several years ago.

The internet is useful but annoying sometimes…If you get on a message board or chatroom and the people are mean towards you, just leave it.

I don’t remember exactly what I wrote that the person flamed me, but it was a mildly stated opinion on some topic. The guy just flipped out and got insulting. Probably because it was an unmoderated site(?). I didn’t stick around. Just left. Maybe he was drunk, or broke up with his ex, or was in a foul mood for some reason. Who knows

I totally understand your frustration. Once you really get to know your way around, it’s an invaluable resource. You can watch news, TV show, download/stream movies, look up information on *anything* you want to know. You have to learn how to evaluate what your seeing, and if it’s true, since anyone can put up a website.
I had the joy of showing a secretary this week that she could put ‘unique gift idea’ into google, and then read websites that suggested just that. She was thrilled!
Then theirs maps, phone listings, business listings etc. online.

Ok maybe I’m an internet addict though! LOL
