A member on here mentioned feeding her rabbit small amounts of the pulp that is left after juicing carrots and I thought this was a great idea. Even though more processed than a carrot, pulp is higher in fiber than the whole plant but lower in sugar. For treats, I’ve been giving my rabbits the higher-fiber parts of fruit, such as the peels of apples and pears, to keep the sugar intake down. My quartet doesn’t seem to mind at all; they are as crazy about fruit pulp as they were about any fruit before. I feel better for treating them with more fiber and less sugar.  They will eat the pith of oranges and grapefruit and I let them have the left-over segments after squeezing the juice out. I can’t give them a whole lot of it because it’s still sugary and acidic but I can give a little more than if it were the entire fruit.

        not much to see here…

Haha! What an awesome group of bunnies! The Lionhead looks very cool! I don’t make carrot juice/smoothies etc but this is a great idea, and I wonder if it’s something one may be able to get free or on the cheap from cafes etc that probably throw all the pulp away anyway…

kralspace, you have 6, bonded into 3 pairs? That’s neat, too! I forced mine to bond because I didn’t want to clean separate habitats.
boogercj, you are thinking large-scale… haha: how many rabbits could you feed from pulp from a juice bar? Keeping in mind it all has got to be used up right away.

I gave the bunnies my spare bedroom so I have 3 bunny condos and one for the piggies. I don’t mind cleaning the condos, but, dang it, each couple feels like they have to reclaim the common area EVERY time they get out by covering it in P&P. No way mine would bond together, they absolutely hate each other.

Boy, just thinking of how I could set up the room as one big bunny habitat makes me want to go home and give them a stern talking to about getting along. I’d get bunny butt for days! (I lost Simba back in the fall and Hershey shows no inclination to joining the others)

I bet their hatred stems largely from a never-ending territory claim. Plus, pairs are a united front against other bunnies to begin with… it would be a big job to bond them. I’m sorry to say but stern talking won’t impress. But you already knew that…

Oh wow – is that Neigey?!! He’s growing up!
I give my apple peel as treat too. There’s just enough flesh on there to keep them happy, plus it can be lots of peices so it last them a bit longer than a slice of apple would.

Neigey is still my littlest, though. He is going to be 7 months soon.

His ears are much shorter than Lint’s, strangely enough. I wonder what’s up with that.
