        Quick question:

Can I treat fruit juice (100% no sugar added) as fruit and offer to my bunnies? I’ve given them a touch of pineapple juice or raspberry juice before as a treat; As long as its not excessive and 100%…What do you all think? I was thinking I could even dilute it a bit (my dog likes milk, so I give her a splash diluted with water to lower the calorie intake for her…)

I know a lot of people soak popsicle sticks in diluted fruit juice to entice their buns. I don’t think it would be a problem as long as it’s just a tiny bit; it couldn’t be too much different from giving fresh fruit as a treat!

I have 2 large water bottles on my cage, a while back i experimented by putting a little bit of pure apple juice in one bottle. It was emptied in a day, the other wasn’t so much as sniffed at. I think as a treat every so often is fine. My two seem to prefer that bottle now (it’s yellow rather than red), and go for that first in the hope mumma has been nice again.

we often use unsweetened fruit juice with sick bunnies, so I don’t think it would hurt your bunny as an occasional treat.

Oh my how did I miss this yesterday? Sorry K & K! As an occasional treat it is O.K. but really fresh fruit is better and they get a few more nutrients and fiber out of it too along with the satisfaction of chewing. Be really careful to make sure that it isn’t juice from concentrate, then the natural sugar level is way too high and should not be given to your bunny. A little caution should be taken with placing it in a drinking bottle as it can go bad and grow bad bacteria.
