I’ve noticed a couple of fruit flies around my rabbits cage so I’ve purchased some apple cider vinegar to attract + drown them. However, as I was cleaning out their litter tray I noticed a couple of eggs. I ended up chucking their litter away (mostly because it was time for a new one) and seemed like the right time anyway. What can I do to avoid eggs in their trays? I clean them with vinegar + water…but won’t that attract more fruit flies? It is rapidly warming up where I live and am afraid that this little rascals will be sneaking into the house from time to time and I know how fast they can multiply

Well, if you rinse after you clean, it shouldn’t attract them. Keep the litter box changed as often as you can. You might also look into placing dry or fresh/live herbs near the buns that repell flies (lavender and rosemary come to mind).

Fruit flies are attracted to the moisture and urine, so change the litter box often. I’m afraid anything added to the litter to repel them may make your bunny not want to use the litter box.

Fruit flies take about 2 weeks to mature and the larval stage is pretty innoccuous so eggs laid in the litterbox won’t be a problem.with any normal cleaning regimen.
