Do any else in the group have free roaming bunny’s.
Mine have the run of our flat but choose to stay mainly in the bedroom (under the bed, or ON the bed when we decide to go to sleep lolol), we just shut them in the bedroom when we go to work or go out.
Meadow has free roam of the main part of the house (living room, hallway, kitchen, dining room, bathroom if the door is left open…) the bedrooms are blocked off with baby gates. she is put into her area when we’re not home or asleep (and i’m a stay-at-home mom so i’m home most of the time…) she tends to stay in the living room or in her area tho, even when given the option of the whole house. i am thinking that at some point within the next couple years, she will be 100% free roam, night and day.
Mine is also free-roam. She has a NIC conco but that is mainly “her” place, and where her litterbox and food are, but the door is only locked when maintenance needs to do work in my apartment. I do have my bedroom gated off, but that is because it is also my sewing room so there are pins and machines with foot-pedals so it’s not safe.
mine are free roaming as well with the exception of the upstairs (where the bedrooms are) and the bathroom (we have a claw foot tub and it is so hard to get them out from under it)
they have a few cardboard houses, but we are in the process of building a condo for them. mainly so there is a good place for the litter-box!!
I have been thinking though that once the condo is done that they should stay in it for the night and when we aren’t at home…just cause of the mess they make around the house…..Gus is shedding like crazy right now and it seems like every corner has a giant ball of hair in it…so maybe if they were confined at least part of the time it would cut back on cleaning…. we’ll see. Helen will probably give me that sad lop ear look and I’ll give in ( she always gets her way!)
I have two bunnies that have “free roam” of my bedroom – I say free-roam because they don’t have a cage in there. I love it because they’ve started sleeping on my bed! The rest of the bunnies have large cages, but do not have free-roam because I have a bonded pair, plus three single bunnies, so they all start a “poop/pee war” if they are allowed to run around. The funniest thing about that is if they escape and we have to chase them around to get them back to their playpen, they continue to drop off territorial poops as they speed around!
BTW sbunny – if you find yourself vacuuming a lot – consider a Roomba, I just bought one because I was vacuuming up bunny hairs about once a day, and I love it! I just send it around once at night and it picks up a ton of fur.
i’m currently working with lulla to become free-roam. I want her to be able to be out of her cage when I’m not home, but she likes to tear up carpet and chew on walls and climb things, so she has to be locked up when i’m sleeping or not at home.
sad, i’ve tried leaving her out, and sometimes she gets through it, but most of the time she doesnt. I feel so bad leaving her in her cage, its really small, but she has a whole room I want to let her free in so I don’t want to move things around for a larger cage when all I really plan to do with it is let it be her bed, potty, and food area and then the rest of the room is hers to lounge in.
How’s Lulla doing anyway with her cut????????????
Shes doing well! Thanks for asking!!! Her cut is healing well and it looks like theres no sign of infection. She has to go back to get retested for her abnormal Alkaline Phosphate levels though, but that should improve with the antibiotics she is on now. Man, she HATES her medicine, its even grape flavored! My arms look like I tried to slit my wrists ! Haha
The other day after a especially difficult medicine time, she would have nothing to do with me. Nick and I were sitting on the couch playing magic (its a card game) and she came up and jumped on his lap for loves, which its always me she goes to and runs away from nick, and threw a fit when he tried to hand her over to me, it was so funny. Then we got our pumpkin for the day and all was forgotten till bedtime, which she peed on my pillow after medicine time. I am just the disgust of the earth
haha
Oh that’s so funny. I had the opposite experience with Edson when he was on antibiotics. You would have thought he was a crack addict. He literally knocked me down to get his medicine and probiotics. He loved them so much. Glad the little girl is better you disgust of the earth!!!!
That reminds me is Lulla on probiotics too? It’s really a good thing to do when she is on antibiotics as it puts the good bacteria back in her system which the antibiotics is killing. She may actually like them. They are really cheap too – only about $6.

OMG!!! MooBunnay…..now I know exactly what I am going to ask for for my birthday.
sbunny…ME TOO!!! And look, you can even accessorize….
what are probiotics? she isint on them…where could i get them?
I would ask your vet about probiotics first. Lulla may not need them at all. Edson was on Cipro for antibiotics and Probiocin for the probiotics. You can google Probiocin for more info but it basically is used for putting the good bacteria back into the gut after a course of antibiotics. There is some controversary whether or not it’s necessary. Our vet is pretty savvy so I don’t think most vets prescribe them.
I agree with KnowItTons. : ) Ask your vet about it before placing your rabbit on it.
I so cannot believe that Roombas now have outfits! OMGosh!
OMG I’ve seen everything now sweepers with cloths LOL
