Free range bun? Long

I have a camera on my bunnies so that I can watch them while I am away. (Side Note: all my bunnies are in cages when I am not there. They are not yet bonded because when I got them as babies I bonded them then they matured and fought and were neutered a month ago so I can start the bonding process again.) Okay back to the story. Thumper my 7 month old lion head has been getting out of his cage lately. I have no idea how. Its and NIC cage but nothing is broken to get out. I looked on the camera yesterday while I was away and I noticed he wasn’t in the cage then all of a sudden here he come hopping across the camera. So like every bun mum I began to panic because I wouldn’t be home for several hours.

Fast forward to when I got home. I did a WHOLE room check and everything was perfectly fine. Which gave me the idea to take away his cage. Heres where my question comes in. Since I have 3 buns in cages. If I let one roam free and left the other two in cages while I am out…what do you think about that? what do you think will happen?

I’m sure it depends largely on the buns, but I had that situation with my fosters and my adopted furbabies, and the caged buns were more aggressive – I chalked it up to frustration at not also being free.

I’d mostly worry about them hurting each other through the cage bars, the free range bun and the caged, of course. If they can reach in/out with their terrible fangs they can accidentally get hold of an eyelid or a lip f ex and they do bite hard.

my guess would be the free-range bunny might claim the entire room as his area and this could lead to aggression between the buns when out of cage time comes, but I’m not entirely sure if this is what would happen.

I think that it’ll be fine, like Q8 said, it’s mostly about the personality of your buns.

all my rabbits hate each other. my two lion heads like each other more than they like my mini rex. but still after awhile they will fight because they get annoyed at the others presence

Hmm… I guess that would be ok. The only problem would be the other two being jealous. If it doesn’t work out, the I suppose you should let all three out. Unless they cause trouble.

My bunny has free reign all day, everyday. I would put him in his cage, but he utterly refuses to go inside… so he’s a wild bun!

Two sister baby Flemish rabbits. We started out by letting them run loose in the house (not in the bedrooms) and then would herd them back into their pen at night (3 foot by 6 foot pen) or when we left them alone.  They just hated to be forced into the pen. But then one night the dominant sister beat up her submissive sister…we could hear the thrashing and then when we came to look at them a couple of tufts of rabbit fur.  We decided not to pen them….they have free run of the house, except for the bedrooms.  We leave the pen door open 24/7 and now since they are not forced in the pen, they often go there on their own.  We’ve had a chewing problem.  A solution has been to place cardboard boxes in the living room..they love to play with them, push them around, jump in them, and eat them!  I’ve had to rabbit proof what few electrical wiring there is.  One of them jumped up on my computer desk one night and chewed in-two the wires to my keyboard, mouse, and cell phone charger wires…$90 to replace the wires!   Also, I’ve placed pieces of 2″X4″ wood at several places in the living room. They like to chew on the wood.  The wood is not varnished so I think it tastes better than the furniture, also they know that if they chew on the wood pieces they won’t be scolded as they are when they chew on the furniture.  Never had baby bunnies before.  My previous adult rabbit did chew, but no where as much of a problem as the babies.  The babies weigh 10 pounds each now.
