Over the last couple of days, Fred has decided that he wants to bang in his cage and chew on the bars at 2 in the morning. I finally had enough and yelled at him to keep it down (As though he is able to follow commands.) I felt bad when I woke up and decided to let him have a little extra running around time right after I got up (about 6 am). I opened the door and let him hop out.

I was typing someone an email and looked down. When I looked back up, Fred was gone. Normally I hear him scratching or chewing on something, but this time, TOTAL SILENCE. I thought he hopped over the barrier I have set up and went into the back of my apartment where he likes to play. Went back there, no Fred. Went in the bedroom, no Fred. Bathroom, no Fred, storage room, no Fred. At this point, I am frantic, trying to find him and calling for him hoping I will hear his stir.

I get on my hands and knees and am crawling on the floor looking under everything. I look around the corner and he had scooted under my recliner and was laying there watching tv from underneath. The recliner isnt being used right now as he arm needs repaired. I was so frustrated that he had me all over the place so early. I picked him up and looked at him and he looked at me like TAKE THAT! DONT YELL AT ME ANYMORE!

Might just have to move him to the bathroom and let him crew bars ill his hearts content.

Guess he was tired from chewing on the bars at 2am and wanted to rest in front of the recliner.

Well, sheesh, you got him addicted to SportCenter.  He wanted out to watch some TV for a while, silly human and how rude to yell to boot.

Awe, that early morning noise can be frustrating! Some people use fans in their room just to block out some of the noise. Pretty soon, he’ll have you trained.

Oh, I forgot to add.   Does he come running for a word like "treat" or if he hears a bag crinkle?  If so, maybe next time you can avoid the early morning search and rescue, and have him come to you with "treats"
