Franz is getting neutered tomorrow! I feel bad taking his manhood… Especially since he’s a single inside bunny
it’s at 8am at MSPCA Angell. He’s ready!
I am sure he will be just fine.
He’ll be fine! And he’ll be a much better bunny for it!
Make sure to give him lots of treats when he comes home! Ok, maybe not lots, but 1-2 more than usual. LOL
Neutering is a very kind thing to do for him in this situation. This way he won’t have to deal with hormones and a drive to mate that he cannot satisfy. Keep us posted on how he does.
(((Franz!)))
Awww, he’ll be much better after! Glad you are doing it! Hope he’s recovered soon!
I just hope his personality doesn’t change too much. I started calling him “my little worshiper” because he follows me absolutely everywhere. He’s never sprayed or humped anything… just been super lovey dovey. It just occured to me today that maybe him not eating hay has to do with him just following me because he’ll never eat it in front of me, so hopefully he’ll eat more hay instead of spending his energy following me ![]()
Wishing Franz a comfortable recovery. I’m sure he’ll still follow you…and hopefully, eat more hay.
hehe he likes his new hay rack XD I took him to the vet this morning in the middle of the blizzard! I was all over the road! my car was covered in snow again and I was only inside 20 minutes.
he likes his new hay rack? i’m glad to hear he is eating hay! give him pets for me please ![]()
Neutering won’t change his personality. Age may change it though.
The neutering went well. My vet just detailed the technique she used on the phone lol. She also says he loves his platypus. I have a stuffed platypus that I’ve been sleeping with to give to Franz when I’m not there so it smells like me
He is staying overnight to make sure he doesn’t lick his incisions. Coming home tomorrow with some anti inflammitories and baytril.
Also, she sai Franz had the smallest testicles she’s eer seen ROFL
Glad all went well and Franz is resting comfortably. That was an ingenious idea, transferring your scent to the platypus and leaving it with Franz. You’ll have to post pics of Franz and his platypus! Good healing vibes to Franz.
Lol I didn’t realize at first how funny it is that my bunny has a platypus ROFL but it is pretty silly! He has a rabbit too but he doesn’t care about it.
(((Franz!))) Hope you have the little fella home soon.
Franz is a healed and off his antibiotics
He seems really healthy besides the fact that he totally pretends to eat hay -.- I’ve had the same small basket of hay here for four days. It’s really been like this since we got him except now he only gets about 2 tbsp of pellets… I don’t know what’s up with him it’s so frustrating. I don’t cheat with his food either! He’s been getting that small amount since he went to the emergency room. He like puts his face in the basket and munches nothing lol! Actually I did give him lots of pellets for about 4-5 days before his surgery because he totally weighed like two pounds! He was mad anorexic when he came back from the bunny sitters. I’m really starting to think he WOULD rather starve than eat hay!
Do yo leave the same hay in the basket all the time? Because alot of rabbits don’t like “old” hay even if it has just been sitting there for a day. What you can do is dump the left over hay back into the hay bag (or container ) and mix is around and put a new hand full of hay in the basket. If he still won’t eat it then I would try a new hay like orchard grass.
I’m glad he’s home and doing well!
He is 2 pounds? o_O He would have been fine in his weight for the neuter, no need to overfeed him. My rabbit was about 2 pounds when she was spayed.
I agree with Mocha. How is Franz ‘pretending to eat hay?’ Have you tried a 1lb bag of Orchard from the BB store? it is quite worth it. My bunny gobbles it up. It is quite different from the Orchard in stores ![]()
I forgot the name of the behavior but basically he bites the hay in half instead of eating it. Yes I give him fresh hay, I put new hay out every night an trow out the uneaten hay after 2-3 days. I just bought another bag of oxbow orchard which seems to be his favorite. I was worried about his weight because he is a large breed rabbit and weighed 4 1/2 lbs earlier, and he weighed half that over Christmas. He’s supposed to get up to 9 1/2 which seems so unlikely how he’s eating.
So I got these oxbow long strand hay cakes and he loves them. Again, not sure if he’s eating them because the same amount ends up on the floor it seems lol but he has his days where he actually seems to be eating well. The last week he’s been eating a loose packed hay rack per day. Last night was te same amount of hay I left though.
Lost all his litter habits for a few days but got him back on track.
Yeah, I noticed the Oxbow Orchard strands were not being consumed at all…
Have you tried Binkybunny’s Organic Orchard?
No but I will try it when this bag runs out ![]()
