My poor baby’s culture came back and it appears that his respiratory ailments are due to E coli and Acinobacter in the lungs. It’s usually gotten only by immunocomprimised patients so I’m thinking that explains a lot. He doesn’t have pasturella but thats not 100% yet because sometimes you only see it when it presents.

E coli? Are you sure about this? That is an intestinal problem.

I hope he is being treated with something immediately that will get rid of it. I assume your vet gave you a game plan for a week or two.

            Sending healing vibes.

                E. Coli for sure. The reason this sounds funny is because it’s in the lungs because he’s immonocompromised, if that makes more sense. He wasn’t tested for these things on purpose, but when Dr. Graham did his lung culture for pasturella, she said these two bacteria came up positive in his lungs but negative for pasturella. He needs to build up his immune system or he’s going to keep getting targeted by common bacteria that would otherwise be fought off. She put him on a full spectrum antibiotic before he left the ER and she said that it covers these two infections as well, so he’s already being treated. He only has a few days left on his meds He’d doing great and she didn’t hear anything in his lungs so that’s good.

Well hopefully if he is in a clean stress free environment like your home this will help build up his immune system. Continued vibes to Franz.

                        Poor baby… Healing vibes!

Do you know about the breeder he came from, I wonder what their practices are. For example if they are weaning bunnies younger than recommended, this can affect their immune system.
