        Hi All,

        Can anyone help???

I am currently fostering a black netherland dwarf bunny for the RSPCA which I have christened Benjamin. He seems quite a young rabbit and he has a very sad story as he was found abandoned in a hutch with his friend, emaciated. His friend has recovered and has been rehomed, but sadly Benjamin is still in poor health. He is underweight as he has terrible spurs on his back teeth and an undershot jaw, which have been preventing him from eating. His coat is falling out due to his poor diet and he has terrible runny eyes. All of this has been caused by neglect.

He is going to have the spurs removed under anaesthetic this Friday and he has been having medicated baths for his skin & coat. Gradually he is regaining his strength and is proving to be quite a cheeky little chap.

He is making good progress and hopefully he should make a full recovery. The real problem is that he needs a home with someone who understands rabbits – preferably houserabbits. He will need to be seen by a vet at regular intervals due to his undershot jaw and being prone to spurs on his molars. I have been in touch with all the rabbit loving friends in my area but noone has the room for this little guy.

Can anyone help? I am in the north east of England (Sunderland area) but would consider someone further afield if it was the right home.

What a sad story …. never one we like to hear about here … unfortunately some humans are a disgrace and I wonder how they are able to live with themselves.

I was just wondering why you don’t want to keep the poor fellow … just asking thats all …. seems like he may have grown attached to you somewhat.  I understand that medical bills for bunnies are extremely expensive and beyond the thought of reasoning why vets charge so much for their services.

However, I hope he finds a nice home … soon.

Best of luck …. do you have any pics of Benjamin.

Best of luck, unfortunately I’m too far away. But your in the right place, I’m sure you’ll find someone!

Reminds me of a quote I just heard

Some people should be put out of their animal’s misery

            LOVE IT!!!

I would love to keep him but unfortunately I already have 4 house bunnies and the house is quite full!! I just hope there will be someone out there who has the space and time to give him the home he deserves.

Thanks to you all for your positvie thoughts on this.

                  Hi All,

                  Re Benjamin

just to keep you updated on his progress…. He has come through his anaesthetic fine and is now neutered as well as being able to munch his hay properly! He is having regular medicated baths for his skin and is really opening up into a cheeky little chappie. No news on the home front yet, but posters are going up 2moro locally so we’ll see what happens.. I’ll let you all know!!
