Forgotten litter training

Hi all,

Charlie had his 12 week vaccination for the celici virus last Monday, and unfortunately my poor little bun didn’t take it very well and we had to bring him back to the vet on Tuesday night for some medicine, he’s all back to his happy cheeky self now which is such a relief, however we had managed to train him to pee in his litter tray (thanks to some very helpful advice from here ) but now he keeps having accidents throughout the house on the carpet. We’ve put towels down and moved the tray to where it seems like he likes going now but he’ll go right in front or next to the tray instead of in it. I also noticed this morning, for the first time since getting his vaccination he’s had an accident on the blanket inside his cage, again right in front of his litter tray.

We’d had no accidents for 3 weeks until he got his vaccination so I’m wondering if it’s a stress related issue and he’ll eventually find his way again or if it’s worth calling the vet up if it’s potentially related to something more serious?

Also if anyone has tips on how to get bunny pee stains out of carpet that would be amazing as everything I’ve tried so far hasn’t made much of a difference.

Hmm, if he’s not neutered it could simply be that your little guy is marking out his territory, and it jsut so happens to coincide with the vaccines! mine peed on things he liked and was just a bit “meh” about bothering to actually get into the litter tray to pee once he was around that age…some times he still is (it’s the effort that counts right)

You can use white vinegar to clean and disinfect a carpet- it smells really bad until it dries(Vinegar dries odourless), but it means your rabbit shouldnt be confused and decide to pee there again because all trace of rabbit smell will be gone! I do think a lot of pet shops have more nose friendly alternatives, but vinegar is a handy handy tool and is cheap too!
