This should have been done months ago, but I just realized that it should be done. These two girls (this was a story I wrote about a while back that some of you may remember.) have always been giving their rabbits all the wrong foods and treatments, and one victim, the only one I really knew about, is Iris, a female orange lionhead. She was fed iceberg lettuce, chocolate, carrots, and a bunch of other wrong things. And she was two years old, unspayed. If she did not die of the wrong foods, she could have died from uterine cancer. If not that, there were other countless things that went wrong with her.The girls are also very cruel to their bunnies, screaming at them, squeezing them, things like that. They are never gentle with them. Although I have tried countless times to make them realize that they are not doing the right thing, they still don’t realize. Their current rabbit, an unneutered male, has diarrhea and is half the size he should be. The only reason he has any weight is because they give him to handfuls of oats a day, if not more. They do give him hay this time, and less veggies(this time the right ones) but he won’t eat it. The hay he does like they don’t have time to buy, even though it’s the same pet shop I drive thirty minutes for to go to every week.
Anyways, the main reason I wanted to post this was in honor of Iris, the rabbit before this current one. I met Iris only once, and she instantly liked me. I don’t know if it was because I was gentle with her, but she immediately started sticking around with me. She was the cutest little fiery fluffball I’d ever seen. A week later after I met her, I heard from the girls’ mother that she had died. I went to their house the other day, and they told me plenty of things that were probably the cause of her death. Once, Iris had an encounter with a oppossum, and she actually screamed. Then, a couple days before her death, she had escaped the backyard (They kept her in a huge birdcage outside of their house) and gone to another person’s backyard by digging. The girls wanted to get her back, but their neighbors did not allow them to go to their backyard. They called their friend, and he jumped over the fence and tried to grab Iris. Obviously, that is extremely stressful for the poor rabbit. She gave the boy a hard time and scratched him all up. Then one of the sisters went over the fence and Iris let her take her home. Three days later, she died. I feel so horrible for her and I can’t even put it in words how much despair I feel for that poor innocent creature. I wanted to put this here so that we can all give her the respect she deserved.
