So I tryed putting my new bunny, Bella in the bathroom(Neutral) and I brought Foofoo in. They sniffed each other and it looked like things were going great! Buuuttttt Foofoo attacked Bella!!! They fought a bit until I managed to split them up and get Foofoo back in her pen. Fur had been flying and i cheaked Foofoo over and shes fine. I went into the bathroom to see Bella, and cheaked her over. Theres a cut under her eye with some fur with skin hanging off it, which worried me. I decided if it was swollen or bad looking this morning id take her to my vet. This morning It looks like its healing up pretty well so i dont think ill take her, my vet is horrable!! And hes he only one in the area.

Anyways I dont know if they’ll get along ok. I hope so I got Bella hoping she’d be a best friend for Foofoo, because Puff and Fluff have each other…and I dont want Foofoo to be lonly! I know same sex bondings a bit harer….but we’ll try it.

          Are both bunnies spayed?

I think your new bunny is not spayed right? Once she is spayed, you’ll hopefully have better luck. It’s very difficult (pretty much impossible) to bond when all the buns involved are not altered.

Neithir are spayed……which is why im not pushing the bonding attempt… There isnt a vet within my area who knows rabbits so I dont want to risk the dangerous operation on any of my bunnys without a proper vet. When i say within my area i mean the closest place is days drive…..

Injuries, even serious injuries can happen during bonding- a scratch or bite on the eye itself needs an immediate vet visit, or like the thread posted earlier this week by “sharper” that one bunny got bitten in the privates quite badly and needed vet care.

If you do not have a vet that can see rabbits or even spay them, I guess I would not even recommend trying to bond them at all- due to the aggressive nature of hormone driven bunnies- and even non-hormone driven bunnies.

What area do you live in?  It is important to have a vet to call in case of emergency- bonding injuries or not.  Is there a rescue near you that adopts out bunnies- where are theirs spayed/neutered?

I live in Yellowknife NT Canada. Theres no bunny rescues nearby. Its one of those tiny towns with very small amounts of real things….like theres no real mall. And if they cant bother getting a mall then they defently wont bother with a proper vet, its terrable.
