hey everyone, Dandela is doing great. I got her some new pellets, and started mixing her alfalfa hay with timothy hay, and I got some cage liners that are very soft, so when she has to be in her cage she will not be on the wire.
I know where you are, you are a bit more limited with choices, but I think the fact that you are making an effort to look for better food choices and make sure Dandela has soft bedding is wonderful. I am so glad you changed from the Guinea pig pellet to a pellet meant for rabbits. Yeah! I am not familiar with the pellet but noticed it was alfalfa based and that is fine for a baby rabbit — It is a bit higher in protein and fat but that is fine for a growing bunny. When your bunny does get older, you will want to switch to Timothy based, lower protein and fat, and keep fiber as high as possible.
And having the mix of Alfalfa and Timothy is also a great choice!
What kind of lining did you end up using? Hopefully if it it’s cloth, you were able to get more than one, so you can have one being washed while one is in the cage.
I also got her a toy, but it was packed with seeds and stuff so I removed all that before letting her have it. take a look at the pics. let me know if you can or can not see them.
Smart move to take all that seeds and stuff out! I don’t know what the actual chew toy log is made of — similar products in that line I think are alfalfa and honey or something. So you will want to monitor very carefully as you don’t want her to nibble too much. So, if you see in the ingredients that has some sugary binding stuff, then you may want to be careful with that.
All and all though I am glad to see that you are looking for ways to better Dandela’s care!
I would also talk to your vet about the that toy and ask them for pellet choices — since you will have to switch later on.
