I need some help, Im freaking out here. I think Fopsy got out, I havn’t seen him all day. Last time I saw him was last night about 6 before I went to work. i had played with him for about an hour then I put  him back in my room in his pen thing. i got home about 11 & I wasn’t tired so I went to get him out of his pen so I could bring him in the living room. He wasn’t in his pen & the door to it was open.

I’ve looked everywhere. Some friends are even helping me look. I live in a pretty small trailor so there’s not a lot of places he can hide. One of my guy friends even looked in the woods behind the trailor. We’ve looked EVERYWHERE we can think of. I’m freaking out here, I can’t loose him.

If he got out, could he be under the trailer? Is he used to going outside. If not I would think he’s hiding in the trailer. Remember they can fit into some pretty small spaces & he could be stuck. Check & recheck all cupboards, boxes, drawers & behind the drawers. Check under the beds & behind everything. Try calling his name in a soft soothing voice then be very quiet, listen for scratching.

What’s his favorite smell treat? Mine come running for banana. He may think he’s in trouble so try peeling the banana & then sitting quietly in each room for 5 minutes. Go out side & sit in a few spots with it too.

I’m not to sure if this hunters trick for lost dogs will work with a rabbit or not but it’s worth a try. When some hunters lose a beagle in the bush they leave their coat or shirt in the last spot they saw the dog. If nothing has happened to the dog (theft is common) in the morning or by the next evening they find the dog sleeping on the coat because it smells like home. You want to use clothing that you’ve sweated in & not washed.
Put out a few items in sheltered spots, under the trailer, under the car, under a few trees (ones with low branches will be attractive hidy spots for rabbits. He probably won’t be to far from home unless he is very familiar with outside or was chased/spooked by something. A bit of banana left on each clothing article may help too.

When you looking in the forest for him try to be quiet, crashing through the bush will scare him. Softly call his name trying to keep your voice in the tone you use to play/cuddle, not in the panic tone.

Good luck & keep us posted.

Edit to add:  If he is spooked or doesn’t like to be picked up & he is outside, a long handled fishing net might aid in his capture but, only use if absolutely necessary as that will definitely freak him out.

I wouldn’t think he got outside.  They really get into some small tight spaces though.  Could he be cuddled under some clothes like laundry?

Is he behind a washer/dryer? If you have stuff under your bed it will be hard to see him.  OH you know something.  Cotton dissapeared and I found him under the box spring on the material up there.  Maybe your little friend chewed a whole and climbed up and is sitting there.  I found Cotton cause there was a big sag and I  was holding up the sag to look for him and there he was in the sag in my hand.

Under the couch behind the couch yes drawers cabinet.s.  I had a cat could get into cabinets.  Do  you have stuffed animals could be he is in there too.

I hope he isnt’ stuck somewhere.   Under the sheets pillows comforters? Couch pillows?

You live in a trailer could he have gotten past the floor vents? Under the trailer?

When you are walking around looking and calling for Flopsy softly, make a little noise with maybe his bag pr container of pellets. Most importantly, don’t give up, keep going back to the same spots even though you already checked them, he could be on the move, too.

Thanks for the tips. I’ve tried the treat thing  & that didn’t work. I crawled underneath the trailor & I he wasn’t under there. I’m getting really worried, he done this one time before, before I got his pen but he was only gone for a couple of hours. It’s almost been a whole day. I’ve looked in every spot where he likes to sleep. I’ve checked in the couch, behind the washer/dryer, in closets, in the chester doors, behind the fridge/freezer, & it seems like a millon other places.

I’m praying he turns up, I can’t stand the thought of loosing him. My parents are not helping me out. My mom is just like, ” well if he got outside he will be okay”. And when my dad called & I told him ( my parents are divorced) he was like ” well if he dosn’t show up I’ll get you another bunny”. I don’t want another bunny, I want Flopsy!!!!

OK. Stay calm and focus. Make a flyer with his description or even a photo. Put it up for people to see with your phone number. You’ll feel better knowing other people might see him.

is it possible that he got into a cabinet that once was open but is closed now?

I agree that the lure is the best option if he’s still inside. I would set little pieces of treats, like small banana slices and apple slices, in clear view on the floor, but in different spots around your home. That way he could catch a smell no matter where he is. leave them out in the open so you can spot him. remember where they are, so if one disappears you’ll have a clue what part of your home he’s hiding in.

Bunnies can chew underneath a mattress or a couch or chair, and climb up inside. If you can reach under your couch or bed, gently move your hand around and see if there’s a lump. I was shocked one night while lying on the couch to have Sammy push on my butt with her nose – from inside the bottom of the couch! Feel for holes. If there is one, you may be on the right track.

Put out a bowl of water too.

Check under vehicles close to your trailor if there are any.

I’ll go do the food thing as soon as i’m done typing this. A couple of friends are making posters so if he dosn’t turn up by tomorow will go post them around the street. I told my neighboors his missing so they said he would keep an eye out.

you have a chance of finding him. my rabbit mops got out once, and when i found him he smelled of gear oil. My bunny Lint had been straying for 11 days before I found him his owner told me before he decided to give him up to me.

The signs will help if he did get out of the trailer, since someone may have spotted him and brought him inside.

Try to stay calm so your movements don’t cause him to continue hiding. I know that is so hard right now. Maybe eat something and read a book on the floor quietly so he can feel safe. I really hope he’s still inside. Glad you have helpers there.

I hope he’s still in the trailer. Try looking in unusual places. Maybe he’s stuck somewhere.

Oh  wouldn’t that be great he comes out at nite and eats a piece of banana.  Then you would know about where to look.  I am soooo hoping he shows up within the next hour or sooner.

I FOUND HIM!!!! Thank the Lord. He was in my mom’s closet in a big box of blankets. He must have been moving around, becouse we checked in there a lot. His okay though, I had to give him a bath becouse he was covered in dust. He is laying on the couch right now,he must be really tired from his little adventure lol.

He did manage to chew up the cord on mom’s labtop, so she’s really angry about that. I have to pay to get it fixed but thats okay. I was way to worried about him & his way to cute to be angry lol. He also got a little scratched up but other than that his okay.

Thanks for all the prayers for his safe return, it meant a lot. I’m glad for all the support I had including from some of my friends, otherwise I would have been a lot more freaked out.

I bet he was comfy in there and managed to take a nice long nap.

I had to log off because I was checking every 5 minutes and needed to wait a few hours to give you time to find him. Now we can all sleep tonight, except maybe Flopsy.

He broke the lach on his pen. I’m hopping I can just buy a new one. If not I guess I can just put something on there to keep it closed. It’s a pretty tall pen though so I hate the thought of not being able to use the door. Oh well, I’ll figure something out

My cage door can latch two ways, and I watch Sammy open the easier one with a few pushes.

Someone here suggested (Beka?) using a twist tie looped through the door piece and a dog clamp through that to connect it to the cage. Maybe they can give you a picture.

As for keeping the cage closed, binder clips are pretty cheap, several of them would be fairly secure yet easy for you to open.
I found chains at the dollars store for keys so a key ring on 1 end & a belt clasp thingy on the other. I attatch the key ring side to a non door spot of the cage. This make the clip imposible to lose. The I use the belt clasp thingy to hold the doors shut.
