Is my bun the only one that doesn’t flop? I think in the 2 years he’s lived with me I’ve seen him flop twice. Is this normal? I’d love so him sprawled out on his back against a wall!
Mine don’t really flop either. They’ll sprawl occasionally, but no real flops. I think I maybe saw Noelle flop once, and I’ve had her almost a year. She doesn’t even binky. It makes me sad that everyone else’s rabbits are always binkying all over the place, and Noelle just hops about. She occasionally races, so I don’t think she’s unhappy – just not very good at expressing her emotions I guess! I do think behaviours vary with individual rabbits, so I think it’s normal for them to not flop, they just express their happiness in other less dramatic ways!
LOL Just depends on the rabbit, some are looser with emotions then others!! I melt when i see flopping or binkying too, but most don’t do it all the time!
Cotton does occassional flop Ruby I have never seen her flop yet.She has stretched out some though
Little Man never flops… I’d be happy if he’d just sprawl with me, but no suck luck. Lone sprawling only.
He used to binky every once in awhile when he had full reign of the apartment, but he has much less space at the bf’s place.
I’ve fully witnessed the flop Once. Once I saw the tail end of what I’m pretty sure was a flop. But thats it. Mine isn’t a flopper, I guess.
She is also a somewhat restrained binky-er. I see the race, ended with a wiggle hop twist. But not some of the grand ballet moves I have seen and read other rabbits doing.
On the other hand – she is a free roam bun 24/7 after spending the past two years in a cage full time ( we rescued) – so I like to think that she is really happy all the time, and very restrained in her emotions. I do know some buns binky in the morning when they first get out of the night cage – a sort of stretch the legs, whoopee I’m out dance.
Oh and she is a groomer of me. I get LOTS of licking on hand, arms, feet, and clothing. And my pillow.
Rupert never flops but I’m not sure that he can. Kahlua is a huge flopper and she won’t even do it just in her special places…she’ll flop where ever she is when the need strikes her. Chuck does the como lop flop all the time ![]()
my Meadow (mini rex) is more of a sprawler. she loves the “head alert but feet kicked to the side” position. i’ve seen her do a full flop before but it’s rare and usually very short, only a few seconds and then she’s at half-alert again. Max the lop loves to flop, anywhere. he stretches his feet behind him, to the side, or does the full sideways “dead bunny” flop.
binkies… i haven’t seen any in a while actually. Max does towering binkies, Mead has sweet little ones, but now that they’re bonded and have their own room, they spend 95% of their time in there, just lounging around. maybe they’re not happy? naw, that can’t be it… i don’t know.
Beka, it’s probably more like they’re so consistently happy they don’t feel the need to celebrate any more! With their own room, and all, they don’t have to leap joyously from their pen/hutch/condo…
Lizzy loves to flop. The more dramatic, the better. She will flop anywhere, on anything, under anything. Although she never stays all the way down; she always rolls back up immediately.
I’ve only seen Robbie flopped twice. Once he was hopped-up on post-neuter meds. Once after he’d just tried to kill Lizzy. He was fully on his side, with his eyes rolled back, and it was the creepiest thing.
I love when she flops. Him flopping should be outlawed!
Kay flops, but hardly ever binkys.
Winston never flops, and his binkys are more like silly little wiggles.
I don’t see flops anymore. Brian was the one to flop when he was little, Bettie has never flopped. Now i’m lucky if if find them under the bed side lounging, they both tend to love cuddling up together duck-like, usually side by side.
Charlie is a world class flopper. He flops al the time. Layla tries it out every now and again but rolls back immediately to a more alert position.
Drue sprawls about 50 times a day, and flops atleast like 5 or 6 times. But he more melts into a flop then the crazy fast flops. He does the dead bunny flops at least twice a day and then I am sure he does it during the night too.. that’s his preferred sleeping position.
Tucker doesn’t flop as much but when she does she has the full jump up and flop real fast down onto the ground flops. The crazy rolly flops. She will lounge sometimes with her legs kicked to the side. She sometimes will put her head down like that and sleep but most often she sleep/rests in a bun loaf.
Binkying..Tucker is the Queen of Binkies in this house. She will binky all the way from her condo to the far side of the kitchen just one after another. Drue doesn’t binky as often..he’s more of a racer and frolicker. He does little binkys somewhat often..usually when he gets in trouble..he seems to get a kick out of it…and he’ll do big binkies every once in a while….usually when Tucker is out and laying by the divider of teh two playing areas. I think he’s trying to show off ![]()
I am yet to see Clyde flop. He likes to stretch out on his tummy with his front paws out in front of him. He does the occasionally binky and races around the living room a fair bit. I’m pretty sure he’s happy coz whenever he gets petted behind his ears he makes a purring kinda noise and half closes his eyes as if he enjoys it.
Shadow has always flopped but then sat up again in a bun loaf. However the past few weeks she’s been flopping and sleeping, like really passed out kinda sleeping. It’s not usually for long that she does this but it’s ever so cute. Shadow also raes around the living room like Clyde and binkies every so often.
Luna, well she’s always been relaxed, there’s a photo of her on the boards in her commonly found “coma pose” She’ll flop then pass out out big time. She usually only does this in her cage, even when we have it open, but she sleeps so soundly in her coma flop position that her whiskers and paws twitch. She is easily woken, especially when I’m about to ake a photo or video of her sleeping. Like Clyde and Shadow, she binkies occasionally but prefers to race around the living room. (we have tunnels around our livin room for them to play in )
Then there’s Bunny, she is the queen of flopping. She flops ALOT!! I’ve never seen a bunny who flops like her, she’ll be sitting up licking herself one minute then suddenly she is flopped, if she flops hear the cage wall, it rattles a whole bunch. She is als a sound sleeper, I’ve poked her a few times to check she was breathing, even the vacuum cleaner hasnt woken her.
She’s a “full-figured” bun so her binkies are kinda funny looking, her head goes one way and her butt the other, she always has a surprised look on her face whenever she binkies as if she’s surprised she could do it, hahaha.
Hmm, I always consider sprawling to be the same thing as flopping. I mean really, think of it in human terms. It doesn’t matter how you get to laying down, as long as you end up laying down.
