Hello all! seems like ages since I posted here! the buns are doing great! I just have a few questions about their housing. Unfortunately, after moving the buns into the house, I have not been able to convince my mom to let them be free range (which I partly understand because Benjamin does not use a little box). Anyway, I have them in this pretty small dog travel kennel I got from Walmart. As I am still in school and mother has a full-time job they only get about 3-4 hours of out time each day after I get home. As I don’t have lots of money at the moment from all the vet bills ill have to wait till Christmas to be able to build them a c+c cage. I have questions regarding flooring. Once I get to build the c+c cage it will be in my room and I don’t need any more rabbit pee stains  So what is the best reusable thing to put at the bottom? I saw reusable puppy pads on amazon but I don’t know how long those would last. Also, I am aware their living space is not the most ideal but its that or outside :/ One last thing, is there a way I could get Benjamin to use the litter box? If he learned to use a littler box they both could very well free roam buns. Ive tried moving his poos and some napkins with his urine in the litter box but it did not seem to help. I also tried putting hay at on side of the box too. Anything helps!

Glad to hear that you are thinking ahead for your buns and planning on expanding their housing! It’s always nice for rabbits to have plenty of space in their cage so I think your idea of getting a c&c cage is a great idea.

A lot of people use adhesive linoleum flooring (buy it by the roll or square at big box hardware stores) because it cleans up fast and is easy to install and relatively cheap. It can be slippery, though, so you’ll want to have some traction items like straw mats, cardboard, or fleece (as long as they don’t chew it).

Since you already move Benjamin’s accidents to the litter box, I would also recommend using white vinegar to clean up the areas he marked. Sometimes the smell can linger (even if we can’t detect it) and rabbits will continue to have accidents in those areas to mark it. White vinegar breaks down the urine enzymes.

Also, does Benjamin tend to go in the same places or heavier in one spot? You might want to move the litter box to the areas he has accidents the most or get another litter box so he has more opportunities to get it right.

          Good luck!
