So when it was just Bunny, I safety pinned the blakets on the shelves to the NIC part.

It worked until Jack came…and chewed all the safety pins off.

I tried double sided carpet tape… He took it as a challenge to dig up and chew up the tape.

So then I just wrapped a blanket around the shelf, and then sit it in. Now Jack is chewing holes/digging/ripping up the blankets.

There are the little stick on tiles underneath, and Jack is big enough so that he can get all over with out any other grip, but Bunny is too small, so she’ll fall/slip all the time.

Is there anything that I can lay on the shelves that is stiff enough so it will not be (entirely) destroyed by Jack, but also has some kind of traction for Bunny?

I can’t think of anything  I appreciate all your input.

I’m going to get one of these for Petie:

          http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_query=abc+cat+scratching&ic=48_0&Find=Find&search_constraint=4044

Good traction and I understand from what other members have posted, bunnies like cat scratching surfaces, withOUT catnip like this one. Yet sisal is safe to chew but generally, they don’t.

I got carpet tiles for Riley (the berber kind), and then glued them down with heavy duty super glue so that he couldn’t grab an edge and rip. So far so good, but I also figure he’ll eventually outsmart me!

What I did in my condo was put linoleum (you could probably use anything though.) and stapled a 1×2 bored on the edges so they couldn’t get to an edge to chew. you might have to replace the wood in the future, but Its better then redoing the floor.

Lashkay those will be great, I just don’t know how to attach them so they don’t slide around or that is Jack proof.

Molzy, that’s a great idea, I hope it works. What kind of glue did you use? Hopefully it will last a little it before Jack figures out how to rip it up.

And Mocha, thank you. The problem isn’t them chewing the actual flooring, but covering up the flooring so Bunny can get some traction. Yours looks a lot nicer than mine though… I may just do it for cosmetic reasons

BunnyAndJack – could you use large swatches of self-adhesive velcro to attach to the surface and bottoms of the scratching pad? That would be my choice, as velcro doesn’t move! Besides stores, eBay might have some oversized velcro tabs? You could also double over some duct tape so that it sticks to itself in a loop and tape it down to the surface so that none of the tape would be visible or accessed by the bunny.
