Hello, My Dear Bunny Lovers. Right now we have a Flemish Giant at our shelter. I’m looking for someone to adopt him. He’s been at our shelter a few months now and it’s really hard to see him there. The staff doesn’t have enough time for him because there are so many other animals and things to do and I only work there a couple of times a week. He also is in too small of a cage. Plus, some other staff members don’t know how to handle rabbits. They keep telling peopel that he really needs work and that he’s antisocial. etc and dettering people from even spending time with him. let me tell you right now, this is NOT true! He’s a normal rabbit. He’s actually better behaved than my Netherland. Haha. I’m actually very suprised at how well behaved he is considered he is unaltered. Basically they are irritated because he sprays, but that’s normal. Anyway, I couldn’t go on and on about my frustration. Here are some things about him.
He’s a 9 month unaltered male. He’s a sweetheart and LOVES to cuddle! He’ll stick his big head under your hand for you to pet him and climb up in your lap. Today he gave my kisses when I made kissy noised by his nose. He also really enjoys blankets. He digs in them and I throw them on top of him and he’ll poke his little head out usually. Other times, however he’ll just stay under them. Hee hee. I tried a harness on him today and he was totally fine with it. Also did well when I did his nails. I haven’t tried brushing him yet, but if anyone is interested, i’ll let you know how he does when I get the chance. I’m sure that he would do fine with it, though. He lets me rub him all over. He even lets me pet his side. He just loves attention! He doesn’t like being picked up, but that’s not a suprise. I usually wrap him in a towel. when I pick him up so that he feels for secure and he’s easier to hold on to that way. Um… let’s see… He’s probaby about… 12-15lbs… best guess. I bring him veggies when I come in and so far I think his favorite it celery. I will post pictures as soon as I can.
If any of you are interested please fill out an application on the Chippewa County Humaine assocation website. I’m in Wisconsin and would be willing to travel a little in the midwest if it comes to it and you’re unable to pick him up yourself. Let me know if you have anymore questions. And thank you so much!
Sincerely,
Michaela

That is the link to his Petfinder page – he’s a lovely rabbit.
A flemmie!!! I hope he finds a good home before I drive that way, lol!
I hope he finds a good home…he is too perfect…if only I wasnt in California…
He is cute. So all of your adoptable buns are spay/neutered at the new owner’s expense? Do you charge an adoption fee in addition to that?
I just visited his page on Petfinder. He is so handsome! It’s too sad to think of him being stuck in a small cage…
*Sending Someone-Adopt-Rab-I vibes *
Oh he is cute….and I’m in the same state….
*thinking*
Figures that I’m also planning on adopting a new dog in the next week. Ugh! If the dog thing falls through for some reason I’ll let you know ![]()
Yea we do charge a fee on top of the pre-spay neuter… I’m trying to remember what it is. I’ll double check today. I’m on my way there in a few minutes. I’m so glad you all love him so much! 😀 I’ll give him hugs and kisses from you. ![]()
Ok, I double-checked the adoption fee and it’s $10 plus the cost of a neuter. Tarm, you should drive this way. He’s really sweet. Haha. Sorry, I’ll try not to tempt you too much.
Hey BunnyBuns – I volunteer at a shelter here in Northern Illinois, we have several people looking for a flemmie. Wondering if they would do a shelter to shelter transfer??? The rescues founders would be willing to pick him up!!!
Awesome! I will talk to our manager! That would be abosolutely fantastic! What the name of the shelter so I can look up your number and website?
The shelter/rescue is No Splitting Hares, we are relatively new, but we do list on petfinder!!!! I will send you message with the directors’ info!!
Ok, I can’s seem to get a message to send to you!!! If you want to try to send one to me, maybe it will let me reply!!!!! If not, the info is on petfinder!!!!!!
You can try my email. Mkaylajo@aol.com. Thank you so much for helping me, by the way. I’m really excited. I want to make sure I have the info so I can present it all to my manager and she knows it’s all legit.
I sent you an email with some info and the contacts for our director (I think I sent you a little more too!!! Sorry!!). We are trying really hard to convince her that she should adopt this guy as she lost her own flemmie a few months ago!!!! As she was saying she would have to beg her hubby, he was offering to go right then and pick him up!!!!!!!!! We do have at least 2 people on a contact list if we ever get a flemmie as well as a couple of other volunteers! So I think if we can get this to work out, good ‘ole Rab-I should have a home!!!!!!!
Just emailed you and your manager. Keep me updated. 😀
Yah!!!!!!!!! For all you flemmie lovers out there, between BunnyBuns7 and I, it looks like we got this big guy adopted!!!!!!!!!!! Never underestimate the power of BB!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAY RAB-I!!!!! Good work flipper and bunnybuns!
That’s great to hear!
