I nees help I saw some black stuff on my buns head and saw something move and it was a flea. How do I take them off and prevent them from getting in my rabbits fur?

You can use Advantage or Revolution on your bun to treat fleas. Use the dose per weight that it says on the package (so usually a kitten dose is good for a bun, unless you have a larger bunny).

I like to apply the medicine closer to the back of the bun’s head than on it’s neck, as they are very flexible and can usually lick it off their neck!

Do NOT use Frontline. The active ingredient Fipronil is very dangerous to rabbits.

            Hi Littleshooky
Just letting you know I edited the title to read “Fleas on Rabbit” . It appears you had 2 threads on this topic. I assume the other was locked as this one had already received a reply. Ive since deleted the duplicate thread.

Ditto DanaNM’s advice. If you have other pets, you might want to check them and treat also. Or do as preventative measure. It best not to use fipronil based product on other pets also, if they are around your rabbit.

You can try a flea comb also. This will probably only remove adult fleas, so following up with a spot-on treatment will take care of eggs and fleas in younger stages. I think you can dunk any fleas removed into water with dish detergent, so they don’t escape.
