What can I do for my 8 week old bunny, who has fleas. I don’t have the funds to take her to the vet, I just took her to a vet a couple weeks ago and the total was 125$ because she needed eye medication for an eye infection. I bought a cat flea comb and I’ve been doing that to get rid of some fleas, but other than that.. she keeps scratching and I feel so bad. I don’t think my apartment has fleas. I believe I bought her with them, since she was kept outdoors since she was born. Now I have her indoor. Please help!

You can buy the kitten flea medication. My vet reccomend advantage or revolution. Just make sure you get one that is appropriate for your bunny’s weight.

Advantage is OTC and bunny safe (imidaclopride).

Don’t get any compound containing fipronil. We always issue this warning when somebody mentions skin parasites. Fipronil is sold under a whole host of brand names, most commonly Frontline and Sentry. It’s deadly toxic to rabbits, but widely used with dogs and cats.

The only issue I have with advantage for kittens is that it’s for 2lbs-5lbs. My bunny only weighs about .7lbs

This is what the Sacramento House Rabbit Society says about flea treatments for rabbits:

                  http://www.allearssac.org/fleas.html

About Advantage they say use half a prefilled tube for kittens for very small rabbits.

Depends on the concentration. HRS says this:

For Revolution, we use the kitten dose and apply it between the shoulder blades once a month for at least three doses. Revolution is usually dosed at 6mg/kg. If you have the 60mg/ml solution (i.e. the kitten solution), use 0.1cc per kg of body weight (1kg = 2.2lb). If you have the 120mg/ml solution, use 0.05cc per kg of body weight. You’ll need a tuberculin syryinge (no needle!) from your vet to measure such a small quantity of liquid. Apply to the back of the neck or other area where the bunny can’t readily groom it off.
