Flea-Tick Prevention?

Hello everyone! I recently adopted a 4 month old Lop bunny (we aren’t sure if he’s a mini or holland). I wanted my first post to be asking for behavior advice, but last night I found a tick in the house causally crawling on me in our room and I need help/advice. We live in western NC and our house is backed up against dense woods. Last year was my first year on the east coast and my first experience with fleas and ticks. I’ve tried all natural repellents, flowers, cedar chips, oils, etc, none of those worked. I’ve tried food grade diatomaceous earth inside my home, also to no success. With my dogs, I’ve tried every drop, inexpensive collar, and tablets sold at Walmart again no success. I have 3 dogs and now Hunter my bunny. Again this year I’ve laid down cedar chips around the house, placed tick deterring flowers/plants around the yard and near the door, and I’ve bought my dogs seresto collars. The dogs don’t have any bugs on them so far, the yard is clean and mowed regularly, and already we have ticks coming inside the house. We do not have a fence and are not allowed to have one since we rent so many wild animals as well as local stray dogs/cats roam the yard.

What can I use on Hunter? I’ve read advantage and Revolution are safe for rabbits, but will they kill the ‘super’ and ‘resistant’ fleas/ticks of the south?
What can I use in the house?
What can I use in the yard?

I’m going to pull my hair out it we have another summer like last year haha.

Revolution and Advantage are safe for bunnies, as you said. You may want to ask your vet about which is more effective in your area, as they will prob have a good idea about how resistant the insects are. They might recommend switching between the two each month. I think Advantage only works for fleas, but Revolution works for fleas, ticks, mites, and some other things (don’t quote me on that though).

Frontline is very dangerous for bunnies, so I wouldn’t even use it on the dogs.

I was going to suggest diatomaceous earth for using around your home. It only works when it’s really dry, so I’m guessing the humidity might have made it less effective? It doesn’t really work outside, but you can sprinkle it around your bun’s area inside.

I would stop trying cedar and oil based things, as some can be harmful to bunnies (although it sounds like they didn’t work anyway!).
