Flaky fur problem?

I have noticed this flaky patch of fur on Luna’s back. It’s just below her shoulder blades. I have not seen her scratch/bite the area and the skin does not look particularly red or irritated. Overall she is pretty laid back when I’m poking around there and all i see are a bunch of skin flakes in her fur.

The only thing I can think of is that 2 weeks ago I gave her a dose of Revolution. She didnt have mites/fleas/etc but when i brought her for her forst wellnes check up the vet recommended we apply this to her as a “preventative measure” bc she was new. So two weeks ago was her second dose and it was hoooorrible. I followed his instructions (and paid very close attention two weeks prior) and applied it but Luna freaked out and was twisting her body horribly to chew/scratch the part of her skin where I applied it . I then proceeded to freak out too and wiped her down with water (A LOT) to try and get the stuff off her (of course then gently using a blow dryer to dry her thoroughly – which was the first time I ever heard her “purr” haha…). So I am thinking this is just a remnant of that adventure since I do not see any obvious signs of irritation. 

So I just thought I would throw this out here and see if you guys have any thoughts on the matter. Luna seems pretty indifferent but I’m a very protective bunny mom and am a bit worried. Does this flaky fur sound like anything you guys have encountered?

You could call your vet and explained what happened when you tried to apply the revolution and ask them if that could have caused that spot. Although it doesn’t sound like a dry patch of skin could come from that.

Ditto. I’d chat to the vet because if she ever does get furmite, then obviously a topical is not what you want to use again. Ouchie! She didnt react that way to the 1st dose? Maybe the skin was irritated enough that the alcohol in the product stung?
For mites they might give an injection instead but definitely chat to your vet in case she has some sort of allergy to ivermectin of selamectin.

Other possibilities are she just has dry skin there, or some sort of dermatitis, a fungal or bacterial skin infection.

YEah it seems like the revolution could certainly be the cause -maybe your vet will know.

I called my vet first thing this morning. They’re confused by the fact that her skin is fine despite the large flakes in her fur. They are more concerned with her reaction to Revolution. They’re going to contact a company representative and explain the situation before we decide on the next step. I haven’t been asked to bring her yet, so I’m hoping it can’t be anything too bad…
