Over the last few days I’ve tried to get these pix up as I was requested to show off Fiver some more, but I’ve had problems loading them.

Hopefully, today, I have them sized right and they will go up.

I’ll label them here, as I am no good and putting text, then pix, then text. (Feel free to tell me how!) ^_^

The pics w/ the stuffed bunny are so great! Is she grooming the stuffed bun?

Is Fiver a new bun? I’m sure I missed a few posts.

I agree she looks like a deer, that was actually my first thought! But after that initial thought, she reminds me of Harry Potter! W/ a lightning bolt scar on her face!!!! (his face? hmm…boy or girl?)

either way….super adorable and awesome markings!

Hogeeze, I hadn’t thought of Harry! 0_o, My son thought the marking looked like the Chinese character on the Shogi Piece, a special item in Animal Crossing, so he likes to try to call him Shogi. But I picked Fiver because when I saw him at the pet store, he was so scared and jumpy, he reminded me of Fiver in Watership down.
It never occured to me to think of the lightning scar on Harry’s forehead! *smacks her own forehead* What a dope I am! Although I don’t think I would’ve named him Harry Potter anyway…lolz.

Yes, he came to us just last week. We were in PETCO (my daughter and I) looking at the bunnies, we always go in and say a little prayer over them that they go to good homes. This little guy had been “returned” (read: dumped) by some woman who had 4 boys all under the age of 10 who decided Fiver was “too big” (read: they scared the crud out of him and didn’t want to deal with the results) and they’d gone back into the store to get another, smaller bunny (I’d actually seen them in the store a few days earlier getting this tiny little dwarf hotot and the saleslady was showing them how to strap it up in a harness and I’d just wanted to go over and thump this mom who obviously just wanted something her boys could terrorize at their leisure!) and so they’d left Fiver back at the store and ‘traded him in’, so to speak.

Fiver was off in a little cage all by himself behind all the doggie Halloween costumes. We just happened to see him as we wandered through, if my daughter hadn’t been as vigilant as she is, we’d have passed him right by. We found out he was free, had been with this family and had also been with someone who just kept him in a dark basement. My daughter and I were so touched by the obvious pathos coming from the little guy, we begged my husband to let us take him home.

He’s been here ever since and I am thrilled that he has already come so far with me that he no longer jerks his head away and runs for his life at the touch of a human hand.
I also think he may make a better companion for Mimzy, as Pip has grown so much in our care that she is becoming quite the diva bunny and treats Mimzy rather roughly, which he does not like. He seemed very interested in Fiver when he went up to his cage and they touched noses a few days ago.
We shall see and time will tell if there’s a bond there.

EDIT: Oh, and yes, Fiver does like to ‘groom’ the stuffed bunnies. He’s put quite a few crimps in the plastic whiskers of the brown dappled one, kind of like trying to make her more of a Rex I think. ^_^

He really does look like a deer!  Someone, sorry I forget who, posted a picture of a little fawn that followed a dog home and ended up on the couch!  Fiver looks just like that deer.  So adorable.  I just hate pet stores.  They should all sell (hate that term) rescues and not animals raised for pet stores!  So glad you found this little guy.

Believe me, I was still in harlequin lop mode when I went in there, but who could resist this little guy? 0_0 You’d have to have no heart to walk by and go, “Eh, someone will take him on eventually.”

Yes, he is a mini rex. TINY little guy! So squeezably soft (like Charmin) and easy to hold, once you get him in your arms, which is no small feat I must say. He flips his ears at you, thumps and runs around and generally makes it as hard as possible to get a hold on him. But once you do, he just gives up and says, “Okay, you win, you can give me noserubs now.”
He really does prefer to just be let alone in his pen or xpen. But if you sit by him and watch t.v. or read or something, he’ll relax, go into one of those dead bunny flops, and close his beautiful little eyes. He’s got heavy eyeliner and the prettiest little lashes for a boy! That one close up I got of him is the only frown I’ve ever seen on him, SO disapproving!
I had seen a TON of rexes/minirexes at the fair this year. I could believe how many folks up here breed them! I would assume their size and obvious intelligence make them a favorite. One of the ones that stood out to me was the one who was pacing his cage, you could just tell he wanted out of there.
I don’t believe that was Fiver, but when I look at him I remember that poor bunny.

I’ve even heard him make small noises, like a cat sighing in it’s sleep. Also I was loading up my daily meds into one of those little weekly dispensers, and each click of the little doors made him thump his front paws on the floor of his pen. With each thump came this little whine, like a kid stomping his feet and whining for a toy. If I hadn’t been so sorry to have scared him with the noise, I would’ve laughed out loud and how he was behaving.

He is VERY good about not messing my bed. He gets into the pen and uses his litterbox and then comes back out again. He did drop a few cecals and eat them in the cuddly cup, but at least it wasn’t on my sheets and he didn’t drag a filthy bum out onto my bed, plus the cup was clean when I went to inspect it afterwards. He’s a great bun!
He does tend to groom the plushies and trim their whiskers. Gotta watch out for that. >.<
His lips are so soft and they tickle when he’s sniffing you.

I see where you guys think he looks like a deer. Those ears! xD Aren’t they comical? And those tiny little legs! How on earth he launches so high during binky time is beyond me. Air Bun! ^_^

Mimzy went up to Fiver’s pen again last night and was sniffing him before I put him back in his own night pen. Mim still lets me know when he needs to go potty by digging the bedclothes. But you could tell he was a little miffed when I shut his door, “Hey! I wasn’t done checking out the newcomer yet! Lemme out!”
We’re taking it slow though. I don’t want to botch another possible bonding.

I often wonder what exactly is the deal with certain noises or sights or situations that spook our pets, especially if they are ones we’ve rescued from possibly abusive circumstances.
Fiver doesn’t like clicking noises (guess I won’t be clicker training him then!) so what does the clicking remind him of?

And my cat, Q.T., doesn’t like brooms or the frying pan sizzling.
My other cat, Black American Shorthair-typical witch’s cat-doesn’t like fire. 0_o
My late cat, a big fluffy Persian mix, didn’t like water. Cat’s were often drowned or burned if they were suspected of being witches in old Salem. Species cell memory? Maybe.

My husky, doesn’t like loud noises (living on base) and cigarette smoke (he’ll nip anyone who smells like it because the guy who owned him before burned him with cigarettes) and anyone in pants he had a lot of aggression for. Now he’s a big teddy bear with us, but it took months to convince him we were ‘safe’ people.

*sigh* My animals have lots of issues. ~_~

Poor Pip is going to learn to hate cats. They are constantly jumping into the xpen to sample the hay, water or any other treat they find there and harass the bunnies. My black cat just dumped something into the xpen and sent Pip flying for cover. I had to put Pip back in her night pen so she could feel safe, poor thing.

                                    Hmmm…maybe cat-ka-bobs for Labor Day Picnic? >.<

I have found that people who do not like cats are VERY strong on the idea, so I wouldn’t endorse the ‘surprise’ idea. I adore them, but my mum hated them and would certainly not have a BLACK cat in her house as she was insanely superstitious. But I have found that, far from bad luck, they are just about the sweetest cats you’ll ever meet and you’ll meet quite a few in your lifetime.
My dad never liked cats particularly because they weren’t dogs. Simple as. He wanted something that would come when he called it and mind him. But over the years he learned to love the ones we had, especially my husband’s cat, who we left with him while we were house hunting. We almost didn’t get him back! xD
I love my cats. But sometimes, they REALLY hack me off. Like yesterday. I’m still grousing at that little furball and she knows it too. Staying away from me she is today.
But tonight, she’ll be all sweet and loving and wanting to sleep on my bed…like I need any other reason to sneeze. >_<

My two dogs I have now will be my last, however. I just can’t handle big dogs anymore and little ones are too fragile for up here.

Found out today that Layla hates the sound of children laughing. Our neighbours (we live in townhouse sort of things with a very small yard out the front & back) were in their yard playing and the young gir, who is about 5,l was laughing alot, which sent Layla crazy! She thumped & thumped & thumped, hid in her house and got Charlie all worked up, who also started thumping. It was ages until I worked out it was the kid laughing so once I shut the windows she stopped.
I really hate to think of why she’s scared of laughing children – it makes me so mad!
I wonder what makes a clicking noise that Fiver could be scared of? Clicking is really common I guess…

Yeah…little kids laughing. Gets on my nerves too sometimes. ^_^ But poor Layla. Was she a rescue bun?
Clicking…hm. Maybe snapping fingers? ~_~ I have no idea, really. Today I filled the daily dose thing out int he kitchen, just so I wouldn’t upset him. ^_^

Yeah, Pip starts thumping her pen when I begin cleaning the kitchen for putting up the xpen. Pretty direct there…we BOTH hate exercise.
When my late cat was in his last illness, his wheezing would set Mimzy off and he would thump. He thumped out a drumbeat the night before the cat died, ir was weird. Like a premonition or something.

lolz…Fiver was watching Watership Down with me this afternoon. After he spun around on the bed like a whirling dervish for about half an hour.

Layla was a recue, poor lil bunny.

Fiver sounds so adorable & full of energy. Charlie is a bit of a lump & also hates exercise (when it’s exercise time he curls up on the couch & goes to sleep) but Layla is obsessed with bunny laps and zooms around Charlie while he tries to nap.

What a sweet little bunny! I also thought of a baby deer as soon as I saw him! Very unique markings.

LMAO! Those are great Pam! ^_^

I just need to get a video of the little guy now, maybe going through one of his binky fits. Actually I need video of all of my bunnies, really.

I don’t know how I’ve done without a rex up to this point, he is so unusual.

Mimzy hasn’t done many at all since his neuter. I think as they get older, maybe it’s just not something they really want to do?

I’ll enjoy the ones I get for now. My vet put Fiver at probably less than or only 1 year old.
