Hiya, i’m not exactly sure where to post this so here I go lol

Tomorrow i’m going to take Winnie to the vet in order to get him vaccinated (he’s 9-10 weeks old). i want to make sure that he’s not scared (or at least terrified) during the car ride. Any tips?

          Hi Mxng0q!

I’ve heard that car rides actually relax rabbits,  the only precaution I would recommend is to keep the temperature in the car 75% Fahrenheit or below since that is the temperature rabbits prefer. Other than that, I hope you and your bun enjoy your car ride, and all goes well! 😀

He might be a bit scared, but he will be ok. It can help to have rabbits get used to their carrier ahead of time, so you can leave it out and open all the time, and give treats in it. That way they see it as a safe hiding spot and feel more comforted in it.

Since you are going tomorrow though, that’s something for the future. 🙂

I usually fill the carrier with a fluffy layer of hay so they can kind of snuggle into it. You want the carrier to be just big enough for the bunny, so they don’t have to far to move if you have to make a sudden movement in the car. Then I usually just drive very carefully and take corners slowly.

When I get home I like to give some extra wet greens to hydrate and give a little treat. 😉
