Okay sorry i feel like im taking over the forum but i have more questions! lol!

With my paycheck i am getting this friday i am taking Pepper in for his first vet visit. I searched the area and found one that seems right. It is a small animal hospital about thirty minutes from me, but i dont mind the drive if its a good place. I had a few questions about the trip

        1. What can i do to make Peppers car ride easier for him? i have a pet taxi, he has a stuffed toy he loves…should i include food and water even if it might spill? the pet store here sells miniscule water bottle for hamsters which would fit on the front door of his pet taxi, maybe i should use that instead? The problem with my car is there is no air conditioner, i have a sun roof which doesnt let air whip through the car, but is there something else i can do to make it not as hot, like a frozen water bottle? would that be appropriate?

        2. When i get to the vet what is he going to do? what should i make sure he checks or ask him to check? what questions should i ask?

thankyou everyone! i know its alot of questions! hopefully this will be a good vet because getting him neutered here is only forty five dollars. i appreciate the low cost of that, but i want to make sure they are doing a good job!

When would you all recommend me getting him neutered? hes 3 months now…but he hasnt started spraying, and i havent noticed any bunny balls, but i dont really know how large bunny balls get! lol! Hes really taken to chewing my carpet…i tried the spray bottle thing but he just continued chewing and looked at me like i was idiotic, then i felt bad for getting him all wet and towel dried him off! lol!

Well I would guess if you have a large enough carrier yes put a water frozen water bottle in it but he need room to be able to get away from it if he doesn’t want to be near it. Yes you should put a water holder for him to drink from and some hay should do okay. the vet would probably just check him over basicly, try to talk to the vet about getting him nuetered if he isn’t already. lol just watch your carpet. I would guess you should talk to the vet about when to get him nuetered though, hope you do okay… have fun.

have something soft in the bottom of the carrier for pee accidents and so he does not slip around. take hay and a water bottle with you, but chance are he will not eat or drink, at least not in the car. it would be good to have it available for when you get there tho. can you roll your windows down a little bit if you are not on the highway? the vet will check weight, temp, teeth, ears, a fecal sample (did he ask you to bring one?), and just a general look-over. you might ask them to trim his nails or show you a stress-free way to do it if you’re unsure. talk about diet, tell them about your housing, litter, exercise routine. it’s pretty much a “getting to know bunny” exam.

definitely discuss neutering… and if he feels he is ready, you could probably set an appt for the next month or so. 3-4 months is typical. this article has questions regarding the surgery that you can ask http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/spay-neuter.html

I also keep the music low and talk to them while I drive…so they don’t think its so weird.

                Good luck at the vets!
