I took Pepper for his first vet visit today! The vet previously owned a small animal clinic and is very familiar with rabbits, and just now opened up a new clinic including larger animals as well.

We went in and he got weighed first, He was 2.8 pounds which the vet said was healthy for his age! yay! and then he picked him up (poor peppers eyes got soo big! he didnt like that!) and i had him sex him just to make sure he was a boy! Yay he is a boy! lol then he checked his ears, eyes, teeth, and heart! then he clipped his nails and then took a furminator thing and pulled all his excess hair out, he had a lot more than i realized!

He then asked me if it was my first rabbit and asked me about his diet and everything to make sure i was giving him the right stuff. and the first thing he told me is buy him plain pellets, not the pretty kind with seeds and fruit! and he went over some stuff with me to make sure i knew that i cant let him kick or anything because he might break his back, and how he may get hormonal and spray so i need to get him neutered and stuff i knew but he wanted to go over to make sure. He was really nice and helpful!

Then i get to the check out counter, it was only 7 DOLLARS! i was sooo excited! lol how awesome is that! and i asked about a neuter and he said he wants to wait until at least 5 to 6 months and then schedule him then. and its only 55 dollars! gosh im excited i found a good vet!

Just had to share all that! i was excited! and pepper has a clean bill of health!

Congrats to you and Pepper? Did he say why you should wait til 5 or 6 months? Because my boys are getting de-nutted as soon as those suckers drop!

Wow, that is cheap! Yeah, why wait 5 or 6 months? Not that it matters as long as he is neutered.

Wow…your vet sounds great. My vet neuters between 4-6 months. She prefers around 6, but she said if he started acting hormonal and bratty before 6 months, she would do it sooner if the nuts were developed enough. I have cats and dogs and the minute Shadow started with the territorial pee fest, off he went at 5 months.
