Cinnamon and peanut started their first session today (Peanut is a male and Cinnamon is a female). It was kind of rocky at first but ended well, cinnamon was attacking(?) Peanut a lot at first, she pulled some fur off him too. At one point she approached peanut and he got a little mad and started thumping his feet, is that normal? There was also no humping, is that normal as well? At the end I kind of force cuddled them while petting them, then let them go for a bit longer in which they were being good again, no fighting and they even started to eat veggies near eachother. Any suggestions or ideas for tomorrows session?

          Hi Josh

A bit more info would be helpful!

          – Have you done pre-bonding? if so, for how long?
          – Are both bunnies spayed/neutered? if so, how long ago?
          – How large was your bonding space? And how long was the session?

No fighting and sharing veggies at the end sounds positive. Thumping is very normal. No humping is also normal.

Since the petting helped, you can start your next session with that, to hopefully start on a calm note.

Prebonding has been done for about 4 weeks

Cinnamon is spayed and peanut is neutered

The bonding space was the size of a whole room (Don’t know the dimensions of the room, sorry)
And the session was abour 10 minutes

Sorry to leave out that info!

              Nice!

My suggestion to pet them at the start still holds! Try to build a calm association in these first dates.

You can also try adding some tunnels and 2or 3 hiding boxes (with at least 2 exits). Sometimes having some obstacles helps. Sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes it doesn’t, then it does… haha
