        Hello everybody,

I just had a few questions, i hope somebody can help me. im sure these questions have been posted, so i do apologize, i don’t have the time to skim thru.

after reading about rabbits i decided to get a French Lop, she is almost 8 weeks old now, and i love her soo much. Im just worried about what to do when it comes to litter training and when can i expect her to develop a personality? i was told they don’t develop them until they are a little older? i have been trying litter training and she still seems to be going wherever she wants, she has no set place she likes to go, when she goes in one corner, i move the litter box there and she goes in the other corner :/,  i give her space and let her come to me when she is in her cage. i only have had her for 4 days, but i want to start off right  and i just want the best for her and to be a happy bunny! i hope someone can help, or just give me pointers on anything that has to do with care.  thank you all! i wish i had a picture! i was told she is either going to be a steele, or some other dark color, but she seems to be getting browner and browner, but shes still verry dark, he color is so unique. i love my new baby!

Congratulations on your new bunny!  You are in for an exciting new advantage and don’t worry, we don’t mind being harassed w/ questions.  At this point she is likely a bit young to be a litterbox pro.  For many their bunnies don’t quite master this until after they are spayed/neutered.  Some things that may help:  adding some tasty nibbles to your litterbox (they LOVE eating & pooping), putting poops into the litterbox for her to get the hint, keep everything super tidy w/ the clean up.  Most buns tend to pick a regular potty place…b/c you have identified 2 corners already, I’d suggest putting a litterbox in both corners for her to get the message.

You will start to notice your bunnies personality soon, but you do need to give her some time to get acclimated to her new home.  Some rabbits won’t even leave their cage the first week in their new home.  The best thing you can do is to spend time w/ your bun. Read aloud to her next to her cage or lay on the floor inviting a visit.  You should really let these getting to know you phases to be initiated by her, not you.

I know how hard it is to not want to pick up and/or pet your new rabbit, especially b/c babies are SO cute and sweet….but you would do best by her to show some restraint at this point.  So….”put down the rabbit and step away from her cage”!

Thank you Skunk! i am so looking forward to spending everyday with my girl. For the litter training, i have been taking her wastes and putting them into the box, and it seems to be helping, we have been giving her lots of space, if i go to her cage i don’t reach in there, i let her come to me, and she has become very willing to stay by my side, now, when she hears my voice, as soon as i open that cage she jumps out and jumps onto my lap, i let her wonder around and she LOVES her toys, and she gets these hyper spells, it is the cutest thing, but i let her play and then i don’t pick her up and bring her to her cage, she usually will follow and then go in, but i talk to her all the time. now, she will crawl all over me, which makes me fall in love with her even more. but i will try and give her more space and let her get used to her new home, i know i can’t help it, shes just so cute!
            Thank you again!

                Hi Kimberly!

                Congrats on your new baby!

I have had Horton for about 3 months now… he is 5 months old. And he has a HYSTERICAL personality. I look forward to hearing what kind of personailty your bunny develops!

I left Horton alone for the first 4-5 days. Now I hold him every day, to keep him bonded to me, and he runs free in my apartment when I’m home to supervise him. I am STILL working on the litter box training… haha!
