        How is everybody doing?

        June went by so fast

My 2 year old refurbished laptop needs to be replaced .. It was a gift from my boyriend’s parents. I will need to be saving up for a new one, since I’ll be doing online classes. I don’t want to be using my dad’s laptop all the time (he doesn’t mind, he works before I go to work)…

Chacha bun is doing great! I can’t seem to keep enough wheat grass growing for her  As soon as I put the pot down, she mows it down with her teeth

I’ve discovered that she likes to chew on the couch pillows  My dad calls her a dog sometimes  He recently nicknamed her ‘Koucha-butt.’

Also, my dad has been giving Chacha her breakfast pellets. Now, whenever he wakes up in the morning, SHE BINKIES to him

I have to work the next 4 days.. it will be long shifts.. but after those 4 days, I’m going on a day trip with my dad, his girlfriend, and my boyfriend John. I hope I survive the next 4 days

          IT’S MY BIRTHDAY MONTH! woohoo!

funny thing, I’m also putting money aside for a new laptop now too. I’ve had a good six year run with my current one, but now it doesn’t work unless it’s plugged in with the charger and it lags =[ I had to re-potty train the buns, and they are doing good so far! hopefully it will stick this time haha.

next weekend I’m going to Tahoe, my friends and I rented a huge cabin so we can get together, BBQ, chill out, and lounge by the lake. yay July!!

            Happy birthday this month angie!

Funny, I’ve been thinking about a new laptop too after 5 years of pretty heavy use. Ohh, technology…

I just got a car yesterday! I got through high school and college without a car, but now that I’m *actually* moving out and leaving the city I grew up in, I have my own car for the first time ever! It’s kind of silly, but I’m pretty excited, haha.

              Happy B-Day Angie!

I’m glad that I’m not the only one that needs a new laptop. It will take me about 3-4 months to save up for a decent one -_-;; *glare*

My work is having a sale on lettuces!!! $1 for romaine I bought some cilantro too.. I had to pick around for a good looking one for Chacha.

I’m really tired right now. I’ll be at work from 2:30 pm until 11:30 pm tomorrow.

I bought Red Dead Redemption yesterday, and I played too much last night >.> My right thumb muscle hurts.

Fireworks look cool, but I don’t like them. They freak out the animals too much. Navi flipped out so much from the fireworks tonight that she ripped open their pen and let Link out too.

I need a new laptop too. My battery lasts 5 minutes on this one, and my other one’s backlight in the screen died.

I loooove fireworks. Used to go to the Symphony of Fire every year in Vancouver, though they changed its name to Festival of Lights in recent years. Symphony of fire too violent I guess… I do miss them. Every weekend, different countries competed with fireworks put to music. Was a blast.. lol.

I got a laptop when I started bonding my girls. Didn’t want to be without my BB while confined to the living room Its a Samsung, and is AWESOME. Can play all my games on ultra settings

Chacha, check out newegg and tigerdirect when you start looking for the one to buy – usually have some nice sales going on and can get a decent laptop for a lot less than in stores!

                    Happy birthday Angie.

Fireworks are awful in my house – had Stickers hiding all night and my bird had to stay up until midnight (his bedtime is usually 9:30..) and was super tired because they were blowing up fireworks right outside our house and he would have had a night fright and hurt himself. be so glad when this holiday is over! The babies are gonna be so stressed until it is.

                        Hey all!
                        Happy b-day soon, Angie!

I got back yesterday from my 2 week long trip to New Mexico. It was incredible! There were a lot of fires though and it was scary to see the smoke clouds all the time. Huckleberry was very angry with me and gave me bunny butt for a while but eventually she came around and I was given gentle loving kisses and bumps.

Happy Birthday to Angie and all our July birthday members!
Well I’ve still been down with this sudden onset vertigo. It’s been days now. If it continues into next week, I’ll be seeing my oncologist to rule out any causes that will require more specific treatment. I’ve tried Dramamine and Bonine…neither seems to be doing much to help, besides just keeping me on my feet without feeling like I need to throw up. :X I still get so dizzy upon rising, laying down or turning over in bed/looking up or tilting my head to either side that I can’t function.

We’ve had people lighting fireworks here for days now. In Alaska, July 4th seems to be one of those week long holidays…like New Years or St. Patrick’s. To me it just seems to be an excuse for some folks to get drunk and do stupid things…not like anyone here really needs an excuse. >.<

Mimzy still seems to be having trouble with his rear legs, plus his flakiness on his ears is still there. I hope to get him in this week to see if he needs other tests run. We got our shipment of dried willow twigs from bunspace, but they are different from last time, so he’s being picky about eating them.
I’ve tried a few more instances of having Fiver and Mimz spend time near one another, but after Mimz decided to throw a trail of wee at Fiver the other day and gave him a snarly reception, I chose to hold off any further introductions.

We had to take my daughter in for her dental surgery consult the other day and, since she’d just started her monthly, she was violently ill and had to come home before even getting to see the surgeon. So now we have to wait till she’s feeling better to have her tooth out.

Needless to say, I haven’t gotten my PC in to the local geeks yet. ~_~ I can only do minor things with it, like getting my mail or coming here (that much at least!) but it’s going to take a while till I have enough money to get it fixed.

My son will be coming home from college for a short visit sometime this week, and he’s not going back to school in the fall. He just didn’t show the results that he would’ve needed to for keeping his degree going. I hate to say it, but I’m disappointed. He had so much potential and he kind of blew it.

So…meh. Things are really down on my end. We’re also having lots of heavy rain here (good to keep us from being set on fire, but kind of gloomy for summer, even for Alaska) and I’m thinking snow will be back early this year. 0_o The cooler the rain makes things, the more likely the first cold winds to spin down from the pole will make the wicked white stuff fly. Yuck. There’s times I definitely miss California!

Happy July everyone! It’s a very dark, rainy July 4th here in NB.

So now that the situation with Bindi is over, I’m concerned about Stormy. He’s much less active than normal. I have to fight with him to even get him out of his cage for run time (he used to love coming out for run time) and he spends most of his out-time sitting in the cottontail cottage. The worries never end for this bunny Momma. He’s still eating and pooping normal though. Just going to keep an eye on him for now. When I can afford it I’m going to bring him in for a senior wellness exam.

Stormy’s 7. He’s always been super active until now. Bindi sort of goes through lazy phases but not Stormy. He loves exploring and binky time. Last night he spent his entire out-time loafed in the Cotton Tail Cottage. In his condo, he acts normal, eating, pooping, hoping in and out of his cage.

I finally rearranged the bunny room last night. Now I can actually move around in there. It’s a small room but at least I’m making the most of my space now. All the bunnies are against the back wall. Bindi in the middle, with Olivia and Stormy on either side. Stormy and Bindi are having fun (at least it seems that way) being beside each other. They were beside each other before but it was the side of Bindi’s cage with his potty and hay bin so they didn’t have much place to interact. The poop wars have begun! I had to put a piece of coroplast between Bindi and Olivia. The Princess needs her privacy or she turns into a little tornado throwing everything in her cage. I’ll post pics of my room when I get her a condo like the boys have. Hopefully, soon.

                                  Happy July, everyone!

Red Dead Redemption is my favorite video game of all time! Let me know how you like it, Britt.

We got both Friday and Monday off at work, so I went out of town to the Finger Lakes in upstate NY with some friends for a few days. We stayed in a really cute B&B right on the water, rented a boat, visited a bunch of wineries, and overall had a fantastic time. We ended the weekend by going to see my MIL up in Rochester – I don’t mind visiting her, but I didn’t like getting home late on Monday afternoon and then having to grocery shop. I always feel like I need vacations to recover from my vacations. Down time to sit on the couch and do nothing is so important for me to get energized.

Now I’m back at work. Boo! I did seriously consider taking a vacation day today, but I have big things going on at work and I really need to be here working on them. One of my processes has an issue (it’s had the issue since 2007 and it periodically crops up) and so I had to shut down the whole Wii chip making process. We don’t run that much of it so it hasn’t been too big of a problem, but this has been going on for about a month now and people are getting antsy about me fixing it.

Elhrowen, I REALLY like Red Dead.. but now my hand hurts from playing too much -_-;; It isn’t from my work, as I try to do my best to scan and bag things properly. I was playing too long. I wear a brace at work, and people think I have carpal tunnel. >.> I’ve had gaming-itis before, lol.

IT IS MY FRIDAY FINALLY! I am NOT used to working 8 hour shifts for 4 days in a row. I’m so darn tired T________T

Tomorrow, I’ll be going on a day trip with my dad, dad’s gf, myself, and John. We are going to Olympic National Park.WEeeeeeeeeee

I work about 9 hour days, but some people here work 12 hour shifts (typically 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 3 days off, so not all in a row). I don’t know how they do it! After 9 hours I’m exhausted and I spend most of the day sitting down.

I am all moved in! yeah!  My new place is great, right across from the Farmer’s Market and two blocks from a really nice grocery store with great produce.  Which is good, because I don’t have a car!  Bunnies are really enjoying having a completely carpeted apartment to cause mischief in!   There have been lots of racing about and binkies.

I agree-I loved fireworks growing up-my parents would do a block party and fire works for hours with a bbq and it was great. But Mikey is scared of them (so of course we’re doing sedation and anxiety wraps on July 1 when the fireworks started) yucki…

I can’t believe the MOSQUITO’s we have here!! I have to yell-they are insane…Like…really really insane…Never seen anything like them-nothing works-not bug spray not anything. Out in blazing sun, and in wind…Gonna spend all summer indoors may as well be winter Booooo

Insanity with buying a house-we’re finally the accepted offer, so we’ll see how the inspection/appraisal goes…Never thought it would be this upsetting, it’s not a time sensitive thing, it’s not a money thing-we can buy whenever and move whenever-but still-my gosh so stressed!! I can’t even describe…

I always a have a blast there and I’m so excited to take a little mini holiday and soooo pumped for the drive…This time it looks like I won’t have to fly out

I saw a commercial tonight – for the FIRST annual Pet Expo!! I looked online and it is going to be HUGE. It will be at a fair grounds! I am planning on attending and big name brands are going to be there, along with other stuff.. and exotic animals, and many animals.

It is going to be tempting to overhear possible misinformation about rabbits.. *grumble grumble* I think I may need to walk around with duct tape on my mouth and ear plugs in my ears.

Oh boy…that’s like going to my state fair. >.< I don't know how I would be able to not speak up if someone said something about rabbit care that was off. Not to mention all the ones I might see in wire cages that I want to stuff in my pockets and abscond with. It would be nice if these expos would only worry about advertising product and not exploiting the animals themselves.
Speaking of duct tape (the handyman’s secret weapon) I had to sit on my hands the other day as my local radio/trade show had a caller advertising a rabbit to give away. I wanted to call her number and chew her a new one. Another poor ‘easter bunny’ that is facing that uncertain future. If I didn’t have more on my plate than I can handle right now, I’d have been on the road before she hung up the phone.

This economy also has so many people just giving up family pets. There’s been someone advertising his 4 year old Doberman. Excuse me? You’ve had a dog for 4 years and now you want to hock it? Because it’s ‘in the way’?? ARGH.

Animals are not quick money, people…please!

Speaking of fairs, this saturday I am going to the Oregon Country Fair. Not to be mistaken with a county fair. I went last year, and had a blast.

But… definitely not a kid friendly place. The dress code is… genitals must be covered. Otherwise, anything goes. lol.

But, they sell tons of crafts and home made things, so it will be fun shopping. And maybe some day I’ll have a booth every year for my own stuff

Sounds like A Ren Fair, MB. Except not quite as ‘reserved’…lol Or a Dragon Con. (imagines folks running about in Rocky Horror garb)
I meant to comment to K&K’s mozzie fest she’s enjoying. You should see my post about the “Blankety-blank spider’, I had a nice description of the mosquitoes we’re dealing with up here this year. I think they must be from the same clan as yours!

well, last year there was a guy that took the dress codde literally. he wore a little blue net, just covering his… And it was ONLY covering it. Nothing else lol.

K&K, I’m right there with you on house stress! By the time we move in we’ll have had 10 months of this crap. Ugh. I still freak out about our mortgage stuff every day, since the mortgage person is being really slow and keeps coming up with new paperwork we have to get for her. I’m just afraid that in a month we still won’t have the mortgage finalized.

I’d call them up and get on their butt about that mortgage, its ridiculous if its taking that long.

Little brat!

                                                                    Our offer was accepted today!….

And we withdrew our offer today-we decided even if we could get an appraiser who would overlook the issues…perhaps something that sent six banks running for the hills is more problematic and not worth the trouble…

So we’ve decided to go the buying land and moving a house onto it route-checked out a ten acre tonight…This is going to be the bain of my summer lol

My fingers are crossed your mortgage stuff hurries up and you can open some champagne on that beautiful deck of yours!!

LoveChacha-we don’t have fairs here-that I know about…but we do have a pet expo and it’s actually brilliant. They have almost every rescue organization there, with tons of adoptables, information sessions, animal shows-like best dressed dog…it’s fantasic I volunteered there for our zoo development society and had a great time-tons of stuff to buy and see. And a great petting zoo (they rotated the animals to give them breaks, and kids have to sit in chairs and are helped to handle the animals-only a certain amount of kids in at a time-lovely!!) and camel rides Maybe-maybe your expo will be like that?

MB, technically they’ve only been working on the mortgage for 2 months – the 10 months includes all of the time we spent looking at houses and getting one to actually go through 😛 Still, two months is forever and we only have a month left.

K&K, I would love to do something like that! Our friend bought 10 acres and built a gorgeous house on it, but when I tried looking into that it seemed much more expensive than buying an existing house. I guess it really depends on the land prices and to get cheap land we’d have to go half an hour from work – since we’re already that far away and want to be closer I figured it wasn’t worth it for us. We’re just lucky we found a house we love with land that’s already so close to work! We never could’ve afforded the land plus building the house on it.

I think this will work out to be about the same as buying together-except we’ll get to choose where the house goes; we went today to look at show homes, price them out see how it works and all-you can custom design your own floor plan!! I’m pumped-it will totaly be ours…Though realistically with the time we have before the snow flies-we’ll likely have our land soon, order the house and not have it put on to the property next spring
Land prices…well it’s weird-I’m sure they are crazy expensive where you are!! In Manitoba, my cousin says there is a 10 acre parcel for only 20,000$!! We’re looking at 100 -150 for the land, which I think will keep us at our price point we want. It’s expensive as far as most of Canada is involved (much cheaper areas) but I think it’s much cheaper then BC or really most places in the US I’d bet!

Chacha!! There is an oxbow stand?? Wowoooo that’s awesome!! Let us know how the expo goes!! I’m excited for you

One in each femur and one in each hip. So, I won’t be running for a while. It’s weird because now that I have confirmation of the fractures, I feel them more. I can’t rotate my hips without a ton of pain… and yet 2 days ago, I didn’t notice a thing! Haha.

I do feel really bad and was originally not going to stay over here for so long. They are both peeing all over the place and Velvateen attacks my legs when I walk in the room. The vet gave him steroid ear drops and that seemed to have lowered his immune system and he got sick.

Both buns are angry with me. We were staying at my boyfriend’s apartment for a month and a half and now we are at my parents’ house until the end of July. I do feel really bad and was originally not going to stay over here for so long. They are both peeing all over the place and Velvateen attacks my legs when I walk in the room. Fievel has an upper respiratory infection so he was just started on antibiotics. A little over a wek ago, he was being treated for an ear infection. The vet gave him steroid ear drops and that seemed to have lowered his immune system and he got sick.
We are going to Disneyland on July 20th! So excited. We’ve been planning it for so long and it ended up being totally spur of the moment. We figured we would be able to go sometime next year, but the timing worked out so we moved it up a bit! Hehe. We’re going for 5 days so we will have plenty of time to explore!

Well…. there was another guy this time. Only, instead of a young, skinny guy, it was a guy old enough to be my grandfather, and very well rounded. It was just… >.<

Monkey…. *shudders* Were you blinded or just temporarily stunned? LOL that is such a horrible mental image. I was talking to a friend of mine that went with me to New Mexico and she was telling me about a county fair she went to. Originally, she just went to get some yummy food and check out the crafts. She ended up taking photos of the freak show that walked past, there wasn’t anyone wearing nets on their you-know-whats but there were plenty of people who were confused about which size shorts they should wear, a couple people with full body tattoos and a handful of people that were walking around in underwear. She went around and photographed a lot of them.

I spent yesterday at the lake with some of Boyfriend’s friends. They flooded a jet ski to the point that it only had about 4 inches of the tail end sticking out of the water. A really nice couple helped tow it back to the dock. We spent all day floating around and drinking beers. Later that evening, the park ranger informed us that they had discovered blue/green algae in one area of the lake. The stuff has taken over our lakes lately. We had originally planned to go to a different one since one of the guys has a lake house there but we decided against it because of the algae. It followed us!!!! I guess its toxic or something? I was told it can cause respiratory infections and a skin rash. So far, I haven’t had any problems aside from a minor sun burn.
When we got back home today, we decided to start a Harry Potter marathon. We are on number 4.

Anyways, I had to work today. I was online playing multiplayer Call of Duty, and I read before I had to go to work at 2 pm. I am currently reading “THe girl with the dragon tattoo.” o_O It is really.. wow. Well writen and interesting. There is a lot that is going on in the book. I bought the second book in the series (I’m not done with the first one yet) as my workplace was having a 33% off paperback books, and I found an additional 10% off coupon XD

I am supposed to be cleaning my room as it is REALLY messy but I’m so lazy T____T

John’s DAD won’t let me take him to the midnight showing of Deathly Hallows. His dad wants to see it as a family. I REALLY wanted to take John, as the 14th is his birthday, and it would be REALLY REALLY cool to go to the midnight premier and experience the madness. I also have a girls Slytherin costume that I want to wear.. but I would not even wear with his parents around -_- It isn’t anything special, but I would feel kind of.. eh, embarassed? SO, I asked my dad (who REALLY likes harry potter too XD) and he said he would be willing to go on Saturday the 16th XD YAYYYY!!!!!!!

You should add The Historian to your reading list, its really good, a little heavy on details but still really good. And that is sweet of your dad to wait.
Im having a similar problem with my viewing arrangements. I want to go see it with my whole family but my brother and his friend (who lives with my family) are going to see it with their friends and my little sisters are too young to care that much. My mom wants to go see it but seemed really on the fence about going. I also want to see it with Greg but we have to coordinate work schedules and blllaaah! Why cant it just be on dvd already or on Netflix.

My fridge is making really funny noises. I hope it isn’t going out…. :-[

Has anyone read “Game of Thrones”? Someone was telling me about the new HBO series and I looked into the books – they get fantastic reviews so I bought the set (of four, out of a planned 7 or something) and started reading the first one. It’s good so far, and getting more interesting. I’m curious to see where it goes. It’s fantasy technically, but reads more like historical fiction or something – there’s not a lot of magic going on. The books are really long, but I like that because I read pretty fast and hate spending money to finish a book in a weekend.

I can’t wait for HP!! We got a special deal through work were we get to see it at 4:30 on 7/14 (or 8:30, but that showing was sold out by the time we go our tickets) for only $5. Yay for advanced screenings! We even get free popcorn and a drink for our $5. I’m pretty excited.

I started working my way through the HP again for fun. I only got to number 2 before starting Game of Thrones, but maybe I’ll read another couple before reading the book that follows Game of Thrones – go back and forth in the two series.

I also need to read Lord of the Rings this summer! I used to read it every summer for about 5 years, but I haven’t read it in the last 5 years, so I think it’s time.

Something about cracking the femoral head that might need surgery? I’m not sure… Hopefully I’ll get an MRI in the next week to see how much damage has been done!
I really wanted to go to that Pet Expo, but with Fievel getting sick, I didn’t want to leave the house for too long. Both of my rabbits LOVE bird toys. I don’t even buy rabbit/small animal toys anymore for them! There’s a company called Planet Pleasures and they make cool bird toys that are shreddable and my boys love them.

There was a rabbitry there and it made me sad by the conditions the rabbits were being kept in. I’m not sure if I want to post the picture (it is on my facebook though). There was a giant rabbit in a tiny, REALLY tiny wire flooring cage, and i don’t think it had enough room to turn around to drink out of its water bottle. It made me angry.

I fell asleep on the living room floor last night xD I bought some new shoes a few days ago, and I use the box as a hay holder. i threw some hay in the box, and fell asleep. For an entire hour, I heard munch munch munch munch munch

There was so much fur after I was done! I did it just a while ago, and I was still in my workout clothes. i got fur all over my black shirt heheh  … Now, Chacha has white patches on her back (she has a white under coat)

Huckles, I had to look away before I burst out laughing when i saw that guy. Luckily, I was standing right by a jewelery booth, where a decent guy was working

MB, I’m annoyed that my set won’t look the same if I keep going and buy the next book. I like to have a matched set! I still hate my LotR set – the first book was the American printing, which I read while in Portugal and then bought the second two. I love the look and the artwork of the second two, but I didn’t think to buy the complete set while I was there. I actually went out and bought it in one complete volume just so I wouldn’t have to read my mismatched set. lol OCD much?

I actually thought about buying the big paperback editions of the books (I could do one at a time that way) but the first book was only in hardcover. What the heck? So then I just bought the boxed set of four and figured I’d read them all eventually (I don’t think I realized there would be more books at the time).

I did wait for HP to come out in a boxed paperback set before I got it. I just borrowed them individually from my parents’ neighbors’ kids before that.

K&K, that’s a pretty good price for land! That was originally our budget as well, but we realized we’d have to go fairly far away from work to get it. How much does it cost for the house part? How big of a house? DH’s boss bought land and built a house, so we had always planned to ask him but never got that far. It also scared us that DH’s boss and his wife make a lot more money than us (they’re 5+ years older and the boss is a manager and has a PhD, so he probably makes as much as DH and I combined). What style house are you thinking? I’m obsessed with bungalows and I wish there were some in this area, but 1980-2000 area colonials are kind of the standard (with some really old victorians thrown in)

What’s the land like you’re looking at? Is it already nice and flat and cleared for horses? More woods? I kind of wish our land was more cleared near the house, because even if I don’t have time and money for a horse I’d kind of love to get a couple sheep and min donkeys. Haha. We have a big field, but it can’t be seen from the house and I don’t want to have livestock that I never see. But I guess if it was nice cleared farmland they would’ve subdivided it already instead of leaving it for just our house.

I wake up with a sore throat, crusty nose (sometimes it is bloody, ew), and sneezing. I actually got to sleep in today, until 10:45! i never do that, but it felt so darn good!!!

Yesterday at work, this guy got mad at me and I felt like laughing at him. He forgot his “Rewards” card, which gives points when you buy stuff, and at the end of the 3 month cycle, will give you rebates back. He doesn’t have a phone number that I can use, and he said “Will it give me a discount?” and I said “No, it won’t.” and he didn’t want all his items. I laughed because it was funny. He had a fish wrapped for him, and I Felt bad for the fish department for having to put it back. Some stores will give discounts for using a rewards card, but not mine LOL!

I really don’t like when people put their huge vacuums, 12, 18, or 24 pack of soda/beer, watermelons, or any other heavy stuff on the belt. I believe it would make life easier to just leave it in the cart and put the item barcode side up.

I know what you mean, Elhrowen. Bring a calculator, please? LOL!

It is kind of gross to put something back that has already been packed for you. I thought the guy was joking around with me, but he wasn’t. I thought it was funny.

I had another guy tell me not to get married at all. Where do these people come from? He went on to say that his high school friends married their high school sweethearts and were divorced in their early 20’s. Um, I am not them, so don’t even go there. It doesn’t mean that it happens to everyone *rolls eyes*

AH, the liquor initative came in :/ .. Apparently Costco wants to get rid of liquor stores in the state.. The initative was shot down last year. My dad works for one (and is trying to get another job at the moment) and I’m not liking it one bit. We don’t need to be losing jobs right now, IMO. State parks in Washington are charging people to visit, and it is only going to get worse of liquor stores are shut down. The revenue goes to state programs. Great timing.. really.

How do liquor and beer sales work in Washington? When I lived in PA you had to go to special stores (liquor stores also sold wine, but you had to go to a separate store for beer and you couldn’t buy less than a case at a time).

In CT you can buy beer in the grocery store, but you have to visit a liquor store for anything else. Personally, I like having liquor stores so I can buy wine – grocery stores that sell wine just don’t have good selections (in other states I’ve been in). I’m a wine snob, even if I spend around $10 a bottle 😛

And your store sells vacuums?! I’d be so mad if somebody put a vacuum up on the belt. Lol

I saw a woman in the express lane the other day with at least a dozen yogurts, plus a ton of other stuff. Lady, your twelve yogurts do not count as one item! Not that I really cared, because we go through the self-scan lane, but I remember the days when I worked the express lane.

The weirdest thing I ever saw was a woman with a black pomeranian in her purse. It was so quiet and blended in with her black purse so nobody noticed him. I was kind of startled to see furry little eyes peering at me from her bag. I’m sure management wouldn’t have been happy if they had seen her!

Washington works the exact same way as CT. Grocery stores sell beer and wine, but not hard alcohol. People complain about the hours, and the hours have been extended for their benefit. Also, it is about convenience for them. I really believe that they don’t care about people losing their jobs over this mess. They think that more jobs will be created. It is true, but what about those people that lost their jobs? Do we want to put more unemployment out there? :/ If people ask me about it at work, I’m going to say I refuse to comment on it. I believe that my work does push for the initative, but a lot of the employees want nothing to do with it!

Hahah! The store I work at is a one stop shop. It has everything – food, beauty products, books, clothing, house and garden accessories!

I have turned away people while in the express lane. The sign is right above the line so I assume that they can’t see.

People can have animals in the store, as long as they are a service animal. I have seen some that are not.. o_o;; One of the service animals put its paws on me! It was so cute! I of course put some sanitizer on my hands afterward, lol

Yeah, this little purse dog was definitely not a service animal! Haha. He looked like a stuffed animal though which is probably why nobody noticed.

We have a lot of complaining about liquor store hours here. CT seems to be protecting the owners of the stores though because they make grocery stores close down their beer sections during the hours liquor stores aren’t open (so after 9pm, on Sundays, and on holidays like July 4th, Memorial Day, etc they pull a sheet thing over the beer section and won’t sell it). Everyone complains, but it’s nice that the state is committed to helping the stores since they’re typically family owned while the grocery stores are not. I’m always in favor of locally owned businesses over just supporting the big national chains.

9pm is not a bad idea. Most retail people are tired from the day, and just want to go home. I understand that, it is a hard business to be in. The liquor stores in Washington are union based. There are some small contract liquor stores in small cities. It is sad Those jobs are the only thing that is there for them to go to.. and if this were to pass.. meh.

Little dwarf diva is asleep in her little drsfosterandsmith hut. But you can go to a bar or buy wine at a winery. That was an incredibly annoying evening after my bf and I had moved to IN and decided to walk out to the liquor store to pick up some wine to celebrate… and they were closed. I think they’ve changed it now, but in Michigan you couldn’t buy alcohol before noon on Sunday, which always seemed like a pointless gesture really. I’m glad to be in Illinois where I can walk to a really nice grocery store that has a great wine selection, liquor, and beer (though I don’t care that much about the beer personally) at any time and on any day!

But I guess if it was nice cleared farmland they would’ve subdivided it already instead of leaving it for just our house

I LOVE that I have someone to talk houses with because I am probably driving everyone else bonkers!!!
The new modular homes (bungalows-but we’re considering basement ready and doing a basement -that’s where the buns could be and it would be nice and cool all summer for them!)are between 150-300 for fully loaded (i.e. walk in shower, jacuzzi tub, epic kitchen)-just depending on square footage-and that includes delivery and installation.
Services we can probably do cheaper than others because we have access to clearing and excavation equipment-so if you dig, then it’s cheaper for set up. Probably around 20,000 to get our services on the land, 30-40,000 for basement or foundation (Still pricing that out)

So we’re basically staying within our price range for what we were looking at-except we get to design and customize our house-including which side faces where on the property! We’re trying to keep it as cheap as possible but still have what we want to do other improvements later-like a pool and horse fending…So that’s epic-I’d love this one bedroom layout that had a walkout bedroom-I love the tons of windows they come wiht because if your neighbors are trees, then you don’t have to put blinds in all of them and can enjoy the little sun we get

The land we’re looking at is all over the map-some would need to be cleared, others have driveways and spots cleared-just depends. We saw like 15 lots last night and were out looking until 10pm. So we’re exhausted lol -we’d really like a very treed lot, so we can clear what we want and keep the rest very private We’re looking at within a 35 minutes to work commuting distance. Trying to convince Dave 38 is not that much more because there were these dreamy 20 acre parcels…

Stuff is sooo complicated doing this though..quotes yadayada…yikes. But I think in the end it may be the best route. WAtch we’ll do all this planning and find a dream place and we’ll just get that lol But anyways that is the *Current* plan lol -we’ll see!

I do live really close to the NY border so I can technically go there.

Getting a modular home sounds really cool, especially since you can personalize so much of it (I didn’t realize that much personalization was possible). Do you have any sketches or pictures of what the houses look like that you’re thinking of? Having tons of windows, a wooded lot, and horses is like my dream!

When you said you wanted a pool it reminded me of one of the most frustrating things about house shopping. There were a bunch of really nice houses and I’d get so excited looking at the listing until I saw it had an inground pool. We’re just not pool people, especially considering how cold it is here, and most of these were <1 acre lots so the pool kind of took up the whole thing. I wouldn't mind so much if it was 5 acres with a pool, but I don't want my whole backyard to be concrete. Anyway, it seems like the people who had the nicest houses also had inground pools. Funny enough, my friend in New Hampshire really wants a pool but can never find a nice house with a nice inground pool – I told her to move here!

And wow, 15 plots of land! That’s crazy. I think we tried to look at 7 houses in one night and we were exhausted.

I would definitely do a basement if I were you! We looked at a gorgeous house across the street from a major thoroughbred breeding farm, with 13 acres of green space off the back, but it didn’t have a basement and that really blew it for us. It’s just so nice to have a place to store things, work on messy projects, etc.

I wouldn’t mind living 30+min from work if we had just moved here. For the last four years I was 45min from work and now I’m 30min and it’s not so bad except that all of our friends live close to work. Some do live 30min away, but it’s not in the same direction we live now, which makes them about an hour from us. I’m just so excited to live close to them and be able to have people over without making them drive so far. We’re lucky we were able to find something so close to work. I also wanted something close because we want to get a puppy next year and being so close we can easily go home for lunch – otherwise we’d have to find a dog walker or something. K&K, this all sounds exciting. There’s going to be frustrating things pop up for sure but generally it’s pretty cool to be able to do this.

With travel, you may have this already covered, but do look into whether the main routes of work to property are not due for a major overhaul because that would be super annoying. It would not only effect your commute time but also the building process.

About 10 years ago my sister and BIL built on a parcel of land that was formerly part of a natural reserve. It was so worth it. The main reserve is still a wildlife sancturary but there were areas around it rezoned and sold off. They have trees all around and from the road you can’t even tell they are there. You go down into the trees before the house is visible. My BIL found the commute home from work relaxing, driving up into a more rural area. They are in a bush fire zone and sometimes service people get lost trying to find them but generally the perks out weigh the problems.

One question; will this basement have some window so Rupert can still have his window seat? : D

I just finished eating a plate of cod and.. OH GOODNESS RED POTATOES!! My dad’s girlfriend grows red potatoes in her yard and she bought some over. *DROOLING* .. She put dillweed, garlic and butter on the potatoes.. *foaming*

I am about to start cooking cupcakes, or playing Call of Duty online with angie-la. I’m kind of new to the friend thing on the PS3, and I am not sure how to get a party started with a friend *whistles*

Today, I cleaned my room and the living room. Chacha got mad at me for moving her stuff, but I put everything back to what it was.. so I don’t know what she is thumpin about .. I moved my laundry basket in my room, and in the corner, I put down a blanket for Chacha. She can make her own messes in that corner

My dad and his girlfriend went to a mall and came to pick me up after work. His girlfriend showed me the tickets to see Deathly Hallows on Saturday

Today is Harry Potter day! At 4:30 I’ll be watching the new movie.

Tomorrow is our department rafting trip. I have some major problems going on and I hoped they’d be fixed today, but they’re not. My second line manager made it sound like I should still be going on the trip, but I really feel like I should be staying here to work on things. *sigh* I’ll have to talk to him in private or over email and see what he says. I’m so upset that our work for the past 3 weeks didn’t result in a working process – especially because it’s something that’s been having issues for 5 years and nobody has ever fixed it. If I don’t get things moving soon I’ll delay Wii production for Christmas this year 🙁 You all know who to blame if you’re looking for a Wii and can’t find one!

Britt, those potatoes sound so good! I can’t wait to have homegrown potatoes.

We have a weekly group meeting and somebody always brings donuts (it’s usually Fridays, but since our group is out tomorrow we had it today). The guy who runs the meeting brought munchkins and I just ate about 6 of them. Ugh. I just can’t stop eating the cinnamon ones! Nobody else seems to like that kind so I end up eating all of them.

I technically have gills I’m such a water baby. It’s ridiculous to have one here. Most people have them indoors if they do, but I just want one sooooo bad lol

we’re drawing up floor plans as we speak I would definitely post when we pick one

Jers-legally here you have to have windows in the basement-but for SURE Rupert will have a window lol -he and Kahlua are up in the window box now so I turned out the lights so they could see out better. That boy needs his windows lol I’d love to work them into the main floor and then do a floor to ceiling window in their room so that they have more to look at…Wonder what Rupert would think of a horse? (down….down the road)

And good point about construction except that…here…it’s construction all year (even though we are the furthest north major metro…) and it’s absolutely always causing delays. So you basically have to add 10-15 for random construction that popped up without notice and/or trains and/or semi’s just going really slow…Sigh…

It’s actually a prom dress so I got a $400.00 dress for $115.00. Yay for bargains! It’s a white empire waist dress with gold sequins all over the straps and down the back. It’s way too long though so I need to get it hemmed. I love it because it has an ancient Rome type of feel to it. Now I got to move my butt and plan the flippin wedding!

She said her mom told her it “didn’t look like a wedding dress”, but she knew that was what she wanted and it looked just perfect on her.

We had to confirm that all of the repairs had been completed (there really wasn’t much to do, but we needed to send a signed letter to the mortgage people). I love our house! Every time I visit it’s cooler than I remembered. It’s the perfect size for us and so awesome. Only 12 more days until closing!

I had seen my dress in a wedding mag my MIL bought me and I knew that was it for me. I figured it would be ridiculously expensive (it was expensive, but not ridiculously so) and I ended up getting it from a bridal shop in NYC. I’m still in love with it! I always said I would just get rid of my dress after the wedding (sell it or something) but I can’t bear to part with it yet.

I went through a bit of a goth faze (classy goth though…not black lipstick-type goth). I like non-traditional colors for weddings. I would have been willing to go with any dress colour but I was hoping to find a light-coloured dress.

I bought my dress at a store called “Laura”. Not sure if you have that in the US.

I’m thinking my wedding colours will be dark purple (my fave colour) and orange (since it will be Fall).

Mine was dark blue and orange and my bff did maroon and orange, so I’m a fan of mixing with purple too. Orange flowers are just so pretty.

The venue provided small centerpieces and two larger arrangements for the “alter” area (or whatever you want to call it, since it wasn’t a religious ceremony) as part of the basic fee. I paid them a little extra for my bouquet and the two for my bridesmaids and it ended up being maybe $200 extra or something. I pretty much told them I wanted some gerbera daisies in orange, and then whatever else they wanted. Lol. I ended up with some orange roses and some light green thingies in addition to the daisies. It was very pretty!

I originally envisioned a brighter orange, but I like the softer color they went with.
