Almost always when I give my rabbit anything other than hay to eat, he finishes it all right away. E.g. if I give him 1/8 cup of pellets, half a carrot and a few broccoli “clumps”, he will eat until he finishes anything right away. Is this ok? Should I be giving him less and make him eat more hay?

They will always eat the favourite thing first. It sounds like you limit his food pretty well. If you give it as one meal – does he graze on the hay during other times? If you’re concerned he’s eating too fast – maybe spread out his pellets and veg amid the hay so he has to hunt for it.

You could also try giving a smaller amount of pellets a couple times a day… as long as he has hay at all times and is grazing on it consistenly, he should not go hungry. Does he get green, leafy veggies everyday or just carrot and broccoli?

Yeah I tried that this morning, to spread the pellets. That’s a good idea. He always finishes them so fast. I find he rather eats the hay after eating something else, he doesn’t eat it much between veggie meals.

I feed him in the morning before I go to work, and again in the evening. I’m away from home about 10 hours a day so I can’t feed him during the day, except on weekends. He doesn’t get leafy veggies every day, but I give him lettuce a few times per week. What other leafy veggies would be good? I always end up feeding him the same stuff. He is a bit picky for some food, I found he doesn’t like Mint at all, and doesn’t like Aspargus much either.

Here’s a good list of recommended veggies:
