Have had a few bunny’s over the years.  Ever since I learned of Lionheads, my dream bunny was a bew lionhead.  Found one today, male, which works as I had the name Walter chosen for years too.

I got the largest cage I could find, with attached play yard.  Hoping to get him litter box trained before I attach the play yard..any suggestions?

Never really litter trained a bun before.

Welcome and congrats on the new bun! Of course we would love to see pictures. 🙂

There’s some very good tips and detailed instructions to get you started here: https://binkybunny.com/infocategory/litterbox-training/

Awww, a blue-eyed white! <3 <3 <3 You know we’re all waiting for pics now, right?

Being a new bunny owner is so exciting! They have so many weird habits. They? Well, both bunny and owner 😉

There may come a moment when you’re ecstatic about finding poo in the litter box, and you may find yourself sending photos of it to your friends, showing them how beautiful it is and how happy you are. Congrats, you’ve become a crazy bunny owner 😆

When I first got my bun he nearly gave me a heart attack the first time he flopped. I rushed over to check on him and he was miffed that I woke him up. Another spooky thing: a bunny dreaming happily looks like it’s having an epileptic fit. I found this site really helpful to learn all about bunny behaviour and body language: language.rabbitspeak.com

You may find that your bun has terrible toilet habits in the first few weeks, because rabbits claim their territory by marking. This should stop as soon as he feels at home. There are exercises to make him feel at home and to make him feel safe with you. I hope you’ll develop a beautiful bond together!

              Thanks!

Also, he’s my first long haired bun, what’s a good brush?

Put paper litter in cage, sticks like crazy to his fur.  Would Aspen be better or.. ???

Congrats! I can’t wait to see him! And Hairbuster comb… definitely. They sell that at the BB store.

Agree about the hair buster comb!

You could try pine pellets or paper pellets, and use a screen in his litter box. That would keep the shavings away from his fur.

                    Comb ordered, thanks.

As for pellet bedding, sounds great but isn’t it “slippy” and hard (ie… uncomfortable??)…

Perhaps adding a ‘dog bed’ style “sleeper”…  I’ve seen these, just wondered if they just pee in them.

He is such a mellow boy.  Had him out, some brushing with my old cat brush.  Baby bug, Kylee, 10 1/2 month old Pug was sniffing and licking ears, he didn’t care.

His cage is large, still haven’t found a permanent spot for it… good thing it has wheels!

Found a crumbled paper litter that is much softer than the typical pellets.  Trying that with pine pellets in litter box.

Have a pic on my phone.  Says it’s uploading it, but then says no files found.  Help!

Looks like I got a pic on my “page”…

Can you see it if you click on my name?  Sorry if that’s a stupid question.😁

Hmm I don’t see the photo in your profile. Sorry we are still having some issues with image uploading. Some people have had success by adding the photo to their profile photo (you could then change it later). That makes it appear in your media library and you can add it into your post.
