Ok so one of our horse rescue volunteers has a family member who’s been spotting a rabbit in his backyard all summer…The rabbit is orange so he knew it wasn’t wild and has been feeding it. She asked if we would take it at the rescue-WELL OF COURSE!!

Ok, so now to find it and catch it…

So she phoned me tonight, her grandpa had seen it, so ok, I’m leaving now…prob, I live half an hour away…I drive like a bat out of H E double hockey stick there, and pick her up to go over and bunny-wrangle. We get there and bunny is in the front yard.

My only plan at this point is to try to corner it and put a towel on it to pick it up.

So forty sweaty minutes later, yeah  WE CAUGHT HIM!!

Well, actually it’s a her, and she’s an orange colored single-maned lionhead!! She’s at our rescue now

i love in wa state. i keep seeing continually a black bunny outside a neighbors house in the yard. they have no fence. its been hot out. and today i found a white bunny with black spots? i dont know if these are pets or wild? i just recently started to notice them after i got moreland. should i catch them? try to find the home? or leave them be? they look healthy?

Well they aren’t wild with that coloring. They may be ‘feral’ which means that they have been in outdoors long enough that they have begun to adopt some wild traits – but they are anything but prepared for the outdoors. They may survive in the wild for a little while but their lifespan will not be nearly as long or healthy as it would be as a pet. However, if you do not have a shelter that will take them, your best bet is to just leave them be.

i actually could take them to the rescue i adopted Moreland from or keep them, lol grant wouldn’t like that. he tells me to leave them be but he doesn’t understand. i spent two hours this weekend chasing the black one around. The white one is new news. he states that they are the neighbors bunnies but who in their right minds would let a bunny out and run around then pen them back up?

I know of two people who do that with their buns.

really? we live in a mobile home park and are so close to our neighbors no fences allowed. they are not fenced in or anything? i think i will knock on their doors and just ask so i have piece of mind instead of feeling like im rescuing bunnies that actually have a home and are loved.

Yeh, I would try to catch them if you can, they won’t last long out by themselves

What worked for us was chasing him into an area we were able to trap her in and then it was still a little tough to get a towel on her and catch her.

                          Keep us posted!!

I live right next to people who let their buns outdoors even with all the loose dogs around here and other wild animals. I sometimes think that if they wander into my yard they’ll have a new home. ^_^
Can you imagine letting your house bun out in the yard at -30 Fahrenheit? We saw them out last winter in those temps, I don’t know how they survived!
