I decided to try the feline pine- to my shock my husband did not want me to get 40lbs of equine pine due to room.  He will usually do almost anything to save a buck, lol.  I bought the feline pine at petsmart for $10.99.  But I had to go to target and thought I would check to see if they carry it and here in GA $8.99 is regular price for 20 lb. And right now the 40 lb bag is on sale for $12.99 for those of you that use it.  I just used it for the first time last night so am anxious to see how I like it.

Well, in my area, wood stove pellets are only available in the winter, so I buy EIGHT 40lb bags at one time. If storage is an issue, I can understand his hesitation, but in my opinion, it’s totally worth it to buy in bulk.

I’m with Beka – we buy 6-8 bags at a time and stack them in the garage. They really don’t take up much space at all and I forget that they’re back there in the corner. If we lived in an apartment or something we wouldn’t be able to do that though.

            Hope you like it!

Haha, well we stack ours underneath the dining room table. I guess I’m more concerned about saving money than esthetics!

              The previous litter I was using was a recycled paper litter… $26 for 40lbs. I switched to WSP for $6 for 40lbs. There’s a big difference between $200 for a year’s worth of litter and $50 for a year’s worth…

Can’t go wrong with that IMO. I always say: I’d rather spend the extra money on what goes IN (quality pellets, hay and veggies), than on the material to absorb what goes OUT.

Honestly, i love using feline pine litter. Only the original, not the scoopable one. It’s knocked down the smell completely. I’ve tried a whole variety of paper based litters from bits to paper pellets. It just can’t compare to feline pine. I don’t think i could ever go back to the old stuff. It’s just too great.

I’m intrigued. I never even heard of Feline Pine. Of course, I probably wouldn’t have paid attention as I’ve always thought anything pine was bad for buns.

We use to use Yesterdays News, but that’s just not an option now with 4 buns. Way too costly. So currently I have a large garbage can I keep in the garage and mix Carefresh and Aspen together. It works good, but if that Feline Pine is cheap AND works great on the smell, I’d like to give a bag a try.

I’m just leery about the whole pine-thing.

I’ve been using the Petco brand similar to Yesterdays News. But if Feline Pine is cheaper, hey I might switch. And the consensus is that it’s okay to use?

Feline Pine is pelleted and dried in a kiln, NOT shaved. It is safe. It is similar to wood stove pellets and horse stall bedding.

                      Pine shavings are not safe.

As long as it’s feline pine original and not the scoopable one, it’s very safe. I’ve tried every variety of paper based litter on the market today. Smell has knocked down slightly with a few popular brands. However. I can say for sure that feline pine original is not only safe for rabbit’s but it drops the litterbox scent down to zero.
