hello, how many times a day is it appropriate to feed my bun?

currently  we give her fresh veges in the morning and at night, and she has a supply of pellets and hay during the day.

the reason why i ask is i may need to go overseas in an emergency and would prefer to ask a friend to feed my baby while i’m away, would it be ok if her food was topped up once a day?

or would it be better to move her to my friends house while i’m gone?

How long will you be gone?
Does your friend have any pets at her house?

I tend to prefer letting a bunny stay at the friend’s house, since I am more concerned about water even than food. Fresh, clean water twice a day minimum, plus being checked on, kept company, limiting pellets, changing litter, is all easier in the same house. But probably not with strange dogs or cats around.
(Argh Firefox…I may have just quadruple posted. Or not at all. Gah.)

I ALWAYS hire a pet sitter!  This kinda irritates my wallet and must be a budgetary consideration when I plan an extended outing.  I also have a diabetic cat, so I guess I’m screwed either way.  I definately consider how quickly a rabbit can go south.  I’m more comfortable having my pet sitter do 2 x’s a day visits so I can ensure that the rabbits are eating regularly.  I hope that made sense…so I’d likely have the bunny stay w/ the friend.  Hope everything’s ok?

              The routine at SaveABunny is:

1/4 cup per 5 pounds of bun in the morning
A couple cups of fresh greens in the evening
              Hay throughout the day.

And water refreshed whenever the bottle gets half empty. Now a few people feel that SaveABunny’s rabbits are a little bit on the thin side but it is a system that has worked well for them and kept their buns in excellent health.

                thanks for the suggestions everyone!

luckily i no longer have to go overseas on short notice, but at least now i can consider this kind of thing for the future…

i forgot to mention that her water is always refilled on regular basis.
