How do I do it?! Dallas and Duncan have an age difference where Dallas only needs 1/4 – 1/2 cup of pellets and Duncan can get quite a bit more…but when I pour in pellets, Dallas eats them like a major hog, LOL. So how do I make sure they’re each getting their right amount and not too much or too little?
I’ve tried separating them for their pellets, but Duncan eats super slow(as in, a few hours) and doesn’t like being separated from his buddy, even if it’s just by a crate panel.

They will work this out for themselves really – if Duncan appears hungry offer him some more. Better yet, do them in smaller amounts throughout the day and maybe Dallas won’t hog them.

Yes, it’s hard to ration pellets between bonded buns. I like Sarita’s suggestion of just feeding in smaller amounts. How old is Duncan now?

I was wondering the same when I had just bonded mine. My *smalller* mini rex eats a lot, and fast. My larger rabbit is slow and diidn’t seem to get enough. After a while, he realized he had to eat when there is food to be had. I still feel, though, that my mini rex eats more in total but he is also a very busy rabbit whereas the other one just has a flair for sloth.

It’s funny because I have 2 bonded pairs and have had more in the past and I never really even thought about the food issue ever. I guess none of them ever looked hungry to me and seemed to get their fair share. It just would not have occurred to me I guess unless I saw something that gave me cause for concern but nothing ever has.

Beka; Duncan is just about 7 months, Dallas is over a year old.
I’m not really worried that Duncan is getting too little, because Dallas does leave pellets leftover. I’m more worried about Dallas getting too many. He’s not as active as Duncan and is prone to getting a tad chubby! It isn’t a huge problem, I was just wondering if anyone had anything they did that worked

At 7 months, you’re going to start decreasing the pellets Duncan gets anyways. Going forward, the most you’ll want to have them eat per day is about 1/4 cup each, possibly even less, 1/8 cup if they are less than 5 pounds. Reducing the amount of pellets should also help increase their hay intake which is better for them than pellets anyways.
