        Hello!

        I recently bought a bale of horse quality grass hay from a farm and noticed that it has some flowers, little roots, twigs and other stuff mixed in with the grass. I assume this is normal as it would be pretty tough to avoid when growing large quantities of hay. Just wanted to check if this was okay for them to have.

          What kind of flowers? If it’s horse quality hay, I imagine it is fine.

            Just little tiny flower with bulbs that dried round. I think it’s those little white ones that pop up in grass fields. The horses eat it with no problems.
            Just did some googling and I believe it’s clover flowers. Is that okay?

              Clover flowers are fine. All clover hay is too rich, but a few flowers are just tasty and good. My bun gets a few clover flowers now and then because they grow in the garden near his run.

                @Bam @LBJ10

                Okay thanks! There’s not a ton of flowers in the hay, they’re just sprinkled around in the hay. Should I try to remove the roots and twigs if I see them or are they fine?
