Today I had half my room blocked off because I am in tha process of litter training her and she kept jumping up on the chair (it had a pillow and blanket in it) and was digging and twisting then digging some more. She hasn’t plucked any hair or humped anything what is wrong? And how much approxamitly would it cost to get her Spayed?

How old is she?  It’s sounds like she is actually doing many normal bunny things. Some bunnies like to rearrange blankets and dig at material.

I don’t know how old she is but if she’s young, and when she reaches maturity, her hormones can make her go a little kookoo.  Also, unspayed females have a high risk of cancer of their reproductive organs, so all around it’s a good thing to do.

Finding a rabbit savvy vet is the most important.   Spaying can really range.  Around here there are spay and neuter clinics that happen to have very good rabbit savvy vets, HOWEVER, in general that is not always the case.

So on average it will cost around $200 bucks.

Here is a great article on how to find a rabbit savvy vet. http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/vet.html

i posted some rabbit vets in the other thread in the Lounge for you, so check up with them and ask prices to spay. it might be worth it to drive a little bit further if you can get a much lower price. i believe you said she was a year or so? there are many benefits to spaying, most importantly, the reduction (elimination?) of cancer risk. you’ll see improvemens in behavior (altho like BB said, chewing and digging are normal bunny behaviors, even still, they might decrease after the spay). it will help with littertraining and her urine will be less stinky. territorial and aggressive behavior will probably decrease as well.

what else makes you think she is having a false pregnancy? just b/c she was digging at the fabric? or have you seen other territorial behaviors…

my girl bunny that is almost 5 months likes to dig in towels and blankets too.  Rabbits just like to dig. I put some scrap towels and such in her cage so she can dig at them all day.  Makes her happy.

Doesn’t sound like a false pregnancy to me, some rabbit’s love to dig and rearrange blankets. But she should be spayed soon!

When you say your mom almost made her leave the house what do you mean? I hope she wasn’t meaning just to be put out as a stray. Or do you mean she meant for her to live in an outside hutch or ????.

Part of having animals is dealing with some of the challenges they create. All animals have something to work through, cats, dogs, birds… and rabbits are no exception. Many times people think rabbits are “easy”, when actually they can be one of the most challenging pets to have – Especially young rabbits. But there are ways to get through many of these things, so obviously our mission here is to make it so your bunny will not be at risk of “leaving” the house.

You’ve done the right thing to come here and find solutions. Shows you care very much about your bunny.

So, it sounds like she is becoming territorial over the chair. When you say your bunny would freak out, does she lunge, bite or?? If so, this is her hormones telling her to fight for the best future “nesting” spot. She is trying to claim the chair.

You have to claim that chair. As soon as she gets on, get her off, either pick her up and put her on the floor, or grab a squirt water bottle and give her a little squirt. Does anyone usually sit in that chair or is it one of the chairs that’s not used.

You also should provide her with something that she will find just as comfy to claim. I suggest getting some cheap soft blankets, make a soft cushy place for her in a corner somewhere – or put them in a cardboard box. She may dig and chew those instead. It’s okay for her to chew them up as long as she is not eating the the blanket, just make sure she is leaving all the little chewed up pieces behind.

And it’s time to look for a rabbit savvy vet as she will soon be ready to be spayed and these territorial behaviors will lesson.

But you will always have to provide activities and chew toys. Check out the toytest section of this site under bunny info. Provides home-made toy ideas to keep your bunny busy.

Also, be sure to bunny proof your home, because I doubt this will be the last time your bunny will get into trouble. Be sure that either all cords are out of the way or covered. See the bunny proofing section under bunny info.

NO NOT LIKE DISOWN HER NEVER, no just go outside in her hutch early (she sleeps out in the hutch she only comes in from when I wake up to when I go to bed or it gets dark which is eightish… well I moved the blanket to my bed and not she it digging and fussing over my pillows and blankets on my bed (she figured out how to get up there.) but she wasn’t really lunging or biting just freaking out and nudging me away (but at least she’ll let me lay on my bed still.) she is like almost 2 years I thing and is ready to be spayed I allready know that.
