I have never seen this before on my bunnies. Could someone help identify what this could be?

        Thanks!

The bump looks like a meibomian cyst to me. Not sure what the dark spot is. Was that always there?

Thank you. I will look it more carefully and apply warm compresses. The dark area is also new. I checked carefully and the dark spot is now present on both lids but the cyst is only one one eye.

              Thanks again.

Update: Took Ben to the vet and she said that as long as it was not bothering him, we shouldn’t do anything. I find that weird and don’t know what to do as she is the only rabbit vet in our area. (I think she is not an expert on rabbits but their practice says otherwise). She thinks the dark spots (present in both eyes) are nothing to be concerned about.

Any suggestions what I can do other than the warm compresses? Any ideas about camomile tea compress? What about the dark spots?

I thought perhaps some capillaries ruptured (like he scratched at it), but if it’s on both eyes then I don’t know. The only thing you can really do at home is a warm compress. They often go away with just that. If there is an infection, then a vet may need to lance it. Try the compresses though first.

Thank you. I will try the warm compresses.

I agree with LBJ. Meibomian cysts often don’t bother the patient, if it does, or start to increase in size, you can have it lanced. Humans can get meibomian cysts as well and they tend to go away after a few weeks without surgical intervention.
