I recently got a black and white lops eared rabbit. He has spent most of his time outside of the cage, during the day for about two weeks. It only took a couple days for him to start coming to my leg and nudging while im playing on my computer ect, sometimes he will take being pet and other times run away and flick his legs (meaning no thanks), but usually if hes laying down by my bed he doesnt mind it. Today he came by my chair nudging me so i tried to pet him, he let me for a while and started following my hand with his nose so i thought maybe hes in a playful mood and is coming around to me. I started dancing my hand along the floor around him and he put his front feet up my arm and lightly scratched and nipped me. he didnt seem agressive at all doing this and didnt run away but stayed to play more, it just really surprised me and i dont know what to think of it. We are not sure if hes male/fem yet but we think he may be a male. Hes a perfect rabbit, super cute and smart and i just want to make sure im not doing anything wrong or if im causing this behavior.

Any thoughts appreciated and im glad to have found the forum

If I am picturing it correctly I honestly wouldn’t play with him that way.

When I had a dog and ferrets they loved when I would play like that but bunnies don’t tend to like that. As a matter of fact I got nipped just by using my hand in a sweeping motion on the floor to help pick up some hay. This can look like you are making an aggressive motion towards your rabbit which can cause them to negatively react. It sounds like he might have did a boxing motion towards you when you say he put his front feet up on your arm. The nip following sounds like it was a warning. Rabbits don’t typically ‘play’ like that.

I hope you enjoy your new family member!

I figured it out. He was biting my hoodie sleeve and by accident biting me through it, ill take your advice not to play like that but he does have a good time chasing my hand around it seems
