So, long story short, our bunbun Marcella is +/- 4 months old and as from 2 or 3 days she has a considerably large (I guess) patch of fur missing.

She free roams around the house from the time we wake up ’till we go to sleep and has her toys and socks to nibble and throw around so I don’t think she’s bored in any way. We’re also stuck home 24h with her since we got her on the first day of this quarantine lockdown two months ago.

Could she really be bored or stressed?! We didn’t have any changes in our place nor her diet recently.

Could she be in the process of becoming a grown up lady?

I’ll attach a picture of possible.

Couldn’t attach a picture so I’ll try to detail: There’s no bare skin showing, it’s just a “valley” in her coat, as if it’s cut by scissors.  approximately 3 fingers wide and long.

I would love to see a picture because you might be explaining a totally natural process called molting. Rabbits molt twice a year which is exactly as it sounds: they blast off their fur in huge patches to get ready for the next season. So, since you’re new to rabbits, this might be her first molt, google image search molting rabbits and see if it’s the same. If she is molting, you need to groom her and gently pluck out the tufts so she doesn’t eat them. Unfortunately, many bunnies get gi stasis during their molts because they ingest the fur and it causes a blockage.

If it’s not molting, and you’re confident it’s something else, there might be a way you can drop her off at the vet during the quarantine. Bare patches can be a sign of many different things.

If she’s over-grooming in one spot too that could indicate pain in that region or a sensitivity.

It doesn’t look like your photo attached. I would like to see also. It could be molting… it could be self-mutilation.

              <p style=”text-align: left;”>Hey! Thank you all for your help.</p>
Our bunny Marcella is indeed having the first molt at 4 moths old and it coincides with winter to summer coat, I guess.  She had a little problem to pass the hairs out of her system but she’s back at blissfully annoying us with her energy!
