I am extremely excited to report that we picked Escarole up today and he is home with us.  He seems to be adjusting well already.  He is not hiding in his house too too much, he is drinking, and munched on some mint and chamomile.  Is there anything I should look for as far as stress related issues? Poop issues, etc? Thanks so much for everyones support in this long journey!

          Congratulations.
          Where are the pictures? LOL

I would continue to watch for eating, drinking, & give freshly washed so still wet salad to insure adequate moisture intake.
Also watch for pooping & peeing. If he’s using a litterbox scoop soiled areas out often to make it easier to see if he went overnight & is continuing to go.
I’d also keep an eye out for over grooming. Grooming is great, just watch for excessive grooming.
I know it’s hard but not to handle him too much at 1st. Let him adjust on his own & come to you.

              Yeah! Congrats! .

              furface gave some great advice!

It’s great he has a hidey house – that will make a bunny feel like there is a safe place to retreat to in their “new” surroundings. However, it sounds like he’s adjusting very well already though – ready to explore, good appetite, so that’s great. It is normal for bunnies, especially if there is any kind of diet change for their poos to look a little different at first – Just make sure he is pooping everyday. If there are any diet changes you plan on making for him, just change this gradually.

I can’t wait to see photos too!

I promise I will get pictures up. He was neutered on the 12th, so two days before we got him. He is already peeing near his litter box!

Since we waited so long for him, I think I have been a bunny slave for about a month now…. haha

At dawn this morning, he was up and he was pulling on his cage bars a bit with his teeth : /

I have not see many poops at all although it has only been about 20 hours. What can I do to help this before it gets bad?

His diet was unkown from the shelter they said they were feeding whatever food was donated. I have him on Oxbow Organic Bunny. He has eaten some chamomile, mint, romaine, wheat grass. He has definitely been drinking water, but I havent seen him eat pellets or hay.

I am sure you can tell by the pictures but he is doing some over grooming, and he had just had surgery for a broken leg that he got from being a stary only months before his neuter so one of them sort of sticks out.  Poor little fella…we want to make up for how awful his life was.

Agouti is a colouring. When you look into his fur, you should see bandings of colours along the hair shaft. It’s like the wild rabbits have. I have an agouti lop – it’s a pretty fascinating colouring.
Your set up looks great. No wonder he’s binkying!

Yay thank you! For his breed at the shelter they just wrote domestic rabbit. Is he most likely a mix?

Most prob a mix, most of them are! Now I’m starting to think I can see very faint Harlequin traits in him too…sorry to confuse. Hard to tell from pics. It’s not realy important what breed he is anyway, it remains a mystery to many of us.

I can totally understand why he is binkying for you, he must understand what a great home he is in. Give him a pet for me!
