hi, iv read on these forums a couple of times that peoples buns have escaped into the other buns pen during bonding and obviously this can go either way , last night i came home and twinks had escaped out of her pen and was wondering around ththeir room, she cant phisically get into stitch cage cuz its not open topped. i seriously have no idea how she did it the pen is so tall a cant even lean over it at all so no idea really, just wondering, if people have found this happpens when buns want to be with eachothern, because she has never done this before!! thought it might be her telling me she wants more time with him? i might just be being hopefull there tho, any ideas?

        thanks !ecca

I’m not totally sure, but I’ve heard stories of buns who can climb the pen and go over the side! Maybe you have a little escape artist on your hands!!

my new bunny bluebell has done this – except she not only jumped out of her cage, but the cage does have a roof. she somehow aimed her jump through one of the grids. I think she gets jealous that our other bunny is free-roam.

Pepper, the bunny in my icon, could clear a 36″ X-pen from a standing start with only minor scrabbling.  I found that attaching a bedsheet over the top of the pen and attaching it with binder clips or clothespins was helpful in keeping her in place.  Generally they won’t jump blind.

Hah yea that’s what I do now she hasn’t tried it since that I no of,I keep them as free range as possible so they don’t feel the need to escape at all

One time shortly after we got Max, I woke up to see him BEHIND the pen. It’s a 36 inch tall pen, about 6 inches from the back wall of the room, and there is about 10 inches on either side of the pen. The kicker tho, is that the sides are blocked by NIC grids so they can’t get behind while they’re playing, so he was effectively “trapped” back there for however long. He never jumped out again. I still have no clue how he did.
